Terminal Boardom I would take 5m Turkish Lira for Shunt. Has to be remembered that left sided midfielders are not exactly 2-a-penny. If we get someone to replace him then he has to be able to do the job at the next level. Therefore I would rpefer Etherington - if available.

I thought Kebe's favoured side was the left side?

No more than SHunt's is the right. His former club didn't have a left winger so they played Kebe there. Additionally, his left foot is useless, and Coppell prefers wingers to play on the "correct" side whenever possible.

Moyes just interviewed on SSN saying Everton won't be buying anyone in January. May bring in a loan signing (striker presumably) but that is it.

In the same interview he is ruling out selling Arteta. If that changes and they have £12 million to spend then who knows, but at least this is directly from Moyes rather than just idle speculation.

Mirror says Wigan have bid £5m for Hunt.

If so bye bye Steve.

Missing out on Routlege could prove expensive

Except of course that Routlege plays on the right wing!

Surman is looking a sure bet!

Not sure he would fancy Wigan. Think he would be looking to join a bigger club

£5M for S Hunt

by Royal Man » 03 Jan 2009 11:06

From BBC website
"Bruce has meanwhile made a £5m move for Reading winger Stephen Hunt, who only signed a new long-term contract last year. (Daily Mirror) "

What do the more informed out there think about this.

Is it a realistic price?

As far as I am concerned, I think that £5M is a bargain when you see some of the silly prices being bid for players in the Prem.

The worst kept secret at Reading is that Hunt has a 5million release clause in his contract.

Otherwise, check the thread in the rumours section :)

If he goes to Wigan then its exactly the same as anyone else changing their job from one employer to the next

Why the big deal on loyalty?

They are as big a club as Reading are, they are pushing for a European place, why would he turn down a move if offered, and it was more money? He would almost be guaranteed Prem football if he moves, not something we can say, 4 wins and they seem safe. Do well and Everton may come back in the summer.

I think Wigan are a good club to go for him, but he did say he wanted to go to one of the second tier of Prem clubs

I know Wigan are up there and all that but we all know he was talking about a Villa or Everton status club

He'll get games at Wigan, though.

Yes he will. I think it'd be a good move for him

Doesn't change the fact that he's come out and said he wants to move to one of the second tier Prem teams though

Wigan is about as good as it can get for Hunt.

Bruce likes huff n puff players and he'll get games there.

Wouldn't mind KIlbane in return plus cash, but it wont happen.

£5m for Hunt is a joke. Bite their arm of!!

Forget Kilbane but Koumas or Ryan Taylor would be welcome.
