RUMOUR Welbeck to Reading?

by TheMaraudingDog » 30 Jul 2009 14:34

Lots of talk on a couple of United websites that Welbeck may be on his way to Reading. He’s meant to have a bit of a bad attitude and Fergie wants rid. Derby County (who Welbeck scored against last year) have made a £1m bid which has alerted other Championship clubs, including Reading.

Decent prospect to be fair, think he’d be at worst a very good loan signing.

Heard pretty much this exact rumour in Jan, didn't happen then and I doubt we'd get him permanently now

Hunt, I guess, but he's only trouble in himself. Luckily he doesn't perpetuate his evil seed around the club...

Only one left thankfully, and he'll soon be gone.

Apropos of nothing - I note that Kevin Blackwell's losing patience with one or two of our ex-players.

Fergie thinks Welbeck will/should be in the England WC squad. No chance of us getting him. Besides, we don't need a short predatory striker in the NHunt/Church mould, if we get a striker they should be a big guy.

What Fergie says to the media and what Fergie thinks are probably pretty different things

I cant see Welbeck getting anywhere near the WC squad but fergie has to build up his club and his players

He's that tall?

Always looked (deceptively?) short to me. Ah well, point stands IMO- somebody to hold the ball up, use as an aerial outlet and play people in rather than a Welbeck or even a Kitson...

Also Simon Church is 5'11" so I would class him as a short predatory striker either.

Have you actually seen him play WR?

Church is not a "short predatory striker," nothing like it infact

Since when has a player been defined by his height?

I'm sure TMD did this thread in January, minus the chip on said players shoulder.
