Rodgers on verge of being sacked

by UpNorth » 11 Oct 2009 10:47

According to that reliable rag the People today

'Brendan Rodgers is on the verge of being sacked as Reading manager - after just four months in the job. '

Source - probably HNA!

Pure speculation on their part. Slow news week, what has changed in the last week? We haven't even had a game!

It's obvious to everyone he can't have a great deal of time left unless something changes.

The media will have noted that both Tranmere and Wycombe have got rid of their managers after poor starts. Norwich ditched theirs pretty much after one game. As mentioned above, slow news week. Typical lazy tabloid journalism. However, nothing would surprise me.

He'll get to the next international break.

Expect decisions and I would imagine ultimatums then...

Whichever journo wrote this has no understanding of the way RFC works - they don't knee-jerk like other clubs. Or do what the media tells them to.

The article in the Reading Chronicle on Saturday October 10th would suggest Brendan Rodgers is not on the verge of being sacked:

To get rid of Rodgers would cost money, therefore I think it unlikely he will be sacked. How long is his contract?

3 years and he obviously is not going anywhere unless there is a change in ownership or we are such a complete dead loss in this division that we're more or less relegated by Easter.

The bookies suggest the sack isn't likely just yet, he's 8/1 with Victor Chandler to be the next Championship manager to leave post , behind Keane 5/4, Sturrock 3/1 & Southgate 5/1.

If you use the definition of a certain poster it stretches as long as it takes for their predictions to appear true !

I'd say he's here for a good 12 months.
