Rumour: Tony Adams lined up

by Arnie_Pie » 07 Nov 2009 23:44

I rarely post rumours but do know a youth team coach at a London Premiership club.

They reckon that Adams has been lined up if Rodgers gets the chop. Was widely discussed at a recent England game as well.

I bloody hope it is not true personally. Also said that Paul Hart is no way getting the chop at Pompey as even though they are in the relegation zone, the owners and the fans think he is doing a good job with a crap squad. So he is not coming here either.

Adams was at a game recently as where half a dozen other managers. Read into that as you want.

That would be like going out of the frying pan into the fire, imo. Adams is rubbish.

How is it cheap and easy if BR is 5 months into a 3 year contract? How much would 2.5 years' compensation be?

But if he wasn't fullfilling the performance requirements of his contract and had been given formal warnings why would he need to be compensated? Or does that not happen in football?

Can't be any worse than the current incumbent! At least there would a little fire in their bellies (Even if it is made up of an alcoholic beverage)

Nope - that would never stand up in court, and no-one would ever sign a contract that had such restrictive terms in it.

In reality there would be a compromise reached to avoid excessive legal costs on each side like West Ham incurred

Correct- but it'd still cost us a significant sum so early into his contract.

He was interviewed out for the job when Coppell got it.

Litterally laughed out of the room. Described as a very strange man.

No chance, he won't get another job as a manager after what happened at Pompey.....

It happens but I've only heard of it when gross misconduct occurs.
You couldn;t draw up a contract specifying match by match results and a situation wherre a manager got 'formal warnings' because he lost games that may have swung on a bit of bad luck, injuries or a refereeing decision would surely be laughed out of court.

You could offer a contract that said if the club was in the bottom 3 after half the season the club reserved the right to end the contract, as to whether a man would sign this I do not know.

Very unlikely - I can't imagine any agent in the world would receomend to his client that they should.
