The fact that these were the sort of players we were looking at in the Prem says it all.

It was between this guy and Kebe.

IIRC , this was all over the news/ UROG / a couple of seasons ago , and the club denied any interest in him at the time. ( although his agent said he was defo signing)

the fact he's playing in Cyprus at 25 just about sums this up really.

was just agent talk trying to talk up some interest

not sure how anyone can use that to clobber the club for having poor targets

He looked diabolical in his best of clips on youtube (to anything more than a cursory glance anyway) which is really not a good sign. Is still playing for a no-mark team and we denied ever being interested in him in the slightest.

Uber bullshit.

If he's foreign and he's any good he would be at Arsenal.

O'Neill is the real killer 'one that got away'. Would've been a brilliant Sidwell replacement.

Along with Gary Cahill and Matt Taylor. Wonder where we would have been had we got those three...

But at what cost? We barely broke even following our two year roller coaster ride. Wages would have increased plus other players would have been brought in probably on higher wages. We could have been looking at an extremely precarious position. But that's by the by. In the past we have missed out on the likes of Peter Osgood and Alan Devonshire. Going back even further we missed out on one of the great goalkeepers of the 1950s in Sam Bartram. I suppose it din't help that when on trial he was an outfield player.

No doubt we will miss out on more in the future.

this is true-though a prolonged prem stay may have enabled us to expand the ground and bring in extra revenue that way to pay for it......

plus if wed stayed there we wouldnt be quite a short of cash

Ground expansion during the recession when SJM's empire ha been tottering? I wonder how high up on his priorities the football club would have been? Nice thought though...
