he's been repeatedly linked with palace in the past, but more than likely only born from virgin's sponsorship of the club previously. seems to have taken an interest regarding the placed advert in a paper, but refused to confirm his interest in the club.

So this could well amount to the usual "Branson intrested in buying Reading" rumour that gets dragged out every so often.

He's also quoted as saying that £30m is too much for him, so little chance of agreeing a deal with SJM if figures being banded about for RFC's price are true.

there was a silver roller with a personal plate(r b) at the barnsley game. it was parked near the corner of the east and north stands. could have been ronnie biggs though i suppose.

Or we're paying Ryan Bertrand far too much money

Palace have no assets, so they are pretty much worthless. They don't own their ground or any land and I believe the only assets the administrator is able to offer are their 26 professional players (most of little value) and the fact that they have an FA Cup game coming up.

Of course the way we are structured it could be possible for us to be offered for sale with no stadium / land included in the deal either !

They don't.

SJM owns the training ground.

And I believe RFC Holdings owns the ground.

It would be up to SJM what he included in any sale but there were rumours that he was looking to keep the stadium (presumably on the basis that the hotel and Conference centre have been good earners)

So any potential buyer of the club wouldn't be buying the stadium or training facilities, or they'd have to buy two other companies? Is it any wonder there's no interest.

What difference does it make?

When they talk about the price for 'the club' I should think it includes those elements too.

In which case Reading Football Club (how ever many elements make that up) own the stadium and training ground.

No, not at all. There are different companies involved.

I'm just saying that anyone buying the club is most likely talking about buying those other companies as part of the deal. That doesn't mean they all belong to the club though does it?

Why do you think that makes it no wonder that any wants to buy it in these circumstances Jay?

because if it were true(which it isnt) that we could sell the club without the ground or training ground, no one would buy it

especially not for 80 million

Why isn't it true that we couldn't sell the club without the ground or training ground ?

It might in fact end up being the only way to sell, who knows what buyers would go for. A genuine football person purely wanting to own a football club might find it very attractive to not have the huge additional capital cost of buying the property. Whether there are any such people around I'm not so sure !!!
