Rumour: Lee Wallace

by UpNorth » 08 May 2010 12:51

I'm sure this was the fella that Brian was planning to watch in the Hearts v Dundee game before he was grounded by the ash.

A promising 22 year old left back who has played for Scotland and available for sale at the right place apparently. Not sure we could afford him unless we can get some cash from player sales.

Fan comment below in response to suggested valuation of £1.2m:

1.2 million, behave yourself!! If he goes it will be to England prob a mid to top championship club on 10-15 grand a week

Epic player on FM, and a very good player from what I've seen of Scottish football this season and last, gets forward well and has a mean cross and free-kick on him.
Worth a bid IMHO.

would love it if we got him. we clearly are gonna be needing a LB next season with bertrand going back to chelsea and armstrongs constant injury problems.

very young and has some international experience as well as a proven player at this level

may be a bit out of our price range tho

Wallace is a decent player, could do a job for us. Wouldn't cost anywhere near £1.2 million IMO

Another left back that has impressed me North or the border is Paul Dixon of Dundee Utd. Both could do a job for us next season if Bertrand doesn't return

Kitson12 Epic player on FM

That's always important to research before forking out real money on a player

But would he be good enough to make the step up from SPL to Championship?

I love it when people who know nothing about the SPL chime in with " wouldn't cost anywhere near that". Yes, he would. Hearts would laugh at 1.5 million and on the off chance that we do have a bigger accepted, he would laugh at joining Reading ( like scott brown did when we were in a stronger position) when he's already been linked to Celtic, Rangers and a few prem teams.

Non story, waste of time. /thread close.

finerain's a cynic and i refuse to listen to anything he says, but even so i do agree that he would cost at least 1.5 mil. however i think that he's still within our reach if we approach it right, cant see him having an issue playing with us as he would be all but guaranteed play since we are a bit short at that position

I agree to a certain extent but half of Celtic (arguably the better half!) have decamped to Boro,a mid-table Championship team. The difference is Boro are probably in a position currently to better their Celtic (or any other SPL club ding Rangers) wages. Cash is king. I agree he won't come to Reading though, so as FR says non-story.

But the Celtic players who de-camped to Boro followed the manager.

Oh, come on, FineRain's right.

Do you honestly think any SPL player would choose us over Rangers or Celtic? Costings are irrelevant, The Old Firm can afford him despite their financial difficulties. Can we? Even if we can, the choice is play in the Championship or play in front of 50,000 rabid fans every other week, with a 50:50 chance of winning something and guaranteed European football every season. The Old Firm have a global profile that pisses on half the Premiership, never mind the Championship. It's an absolute no brainer
