Rumour: Darren Carter

by Barry the bird boggler » 05 Jun 2010 13:59

Sky Sports have started this rumour.....

QPR and Reading are keen to sign Darren Carter from Preston this summer, skysports.com understands.

Carter was one of several players to be placed on the Deepdale transfer list by manager Darren Ferguson at the end of last season.

The former West Brom and Birmingham midfielder made just 11 Championship starts for the Lilywhites last season with a further 12 appearances from the bench.

His availability has alerted rival sides in the second tier with QPR and Reading leading the hunt for his signature.

Loftus Road boss Neil Warnock and Royals counterpart Brian McDermott feel the addition of Carter would bolster their respective squads as they plan promotion bids.

Interesting. Still, QPR have the financial edge over us considering they have billionaire owners and all that.Would be a good edition to the team IMO.

Yes please, but we can't compete with QPR in terms of wages.

Not really sure where he would fit in and has hardly pulled up many trees in recent years.

A slow central midfielder isn't really our style.

No thanks.

No better than what we have.

Has scored 16 goals in his entire career which seems to be on the slide.

No doubt his agent started the rumour ....

Why would we want another midfielder when we have too many and need to offload at least two?

Agree with Ian. With very little money to spend I can't see why we would be in for a midfielder when we have loads all ready.

Terrible player, done absolutely nothing of note over than score a winning penalty in a Playoff final.

He scored a good goal for Birmingham one year that they beat one of the big 4 at St Andrews too, or maybe for West Brom

Think it was for West Brom against Arsenal.

It's amazing how you can make a lot of money in football on the back of one or two moments.

The winning penalty in Brums play off final being another moment that sticks out.
