Sarah Star Every season ticket not renewed means one more seat for me to choose from when I buy mine.

I thought you had already chosen to sit in Y25?

I renewed mine today, 8,500 sold according to the TO. They are shifting 1,000 a day currently.

Thats still pretty shocking really.I truly thought we had turned a corner and the "we're in it together mentality" would last for next season before maybe tailing off if we fail to achieve.Personally i blame Ben Herbert.

You can spot the people on this thread who haven't followed RFC for very long. How exactly is 12,000 season ticket holders a 'shocking' effort? I should imagine it compares reasonably well with most other average Championship clubs. We're only bloody Reading, for god's sake.

In terms of losing a mysterious 6,000 STH it is.I was expecting at least 14,000 but then again we won't know until next week etc.You are right 12,000 isn't bad in terms of historical progress, however given the support for the last 2 seasons, small reduction in prices and the expectation of challenging at the top should precipitate a greater demand then that.

It's interesting that an arbitrary number such as 14,000 can be selected, compared to a finger in the air figure of 12,000 and the difference described as 'shocking' !!

Given that earlier today the EP mentioned 6k renewals and already it seems the number has jumped to 7500 we could be at any sort of figure by Friday !!

Persoanlly my random number for renewals was 12k, with the assumption that actual attendances would hald up well on the basis that a lot of people will still go to most games but buy tickets per game.

But it's all conjecture.

Royalshow the expectation of challenging at the top

Only the most naive amongst us expect Reading to be 'challenging at the top' next season.

Except we won't have lost 6K STH. We lost well over two thousand last season, after just one year in the Premiership, taking us to under 16K STH.

Still think we'll reach 12K STH this season, pretty respectable given the league we find ourselves in and the quality of football most of us endured last season.

Only the terminally cynical would consider that we would not be amongst the challengers though.

I don't know though. They can get a bit rowdy over there, though I enjoy the singing and it would be nice to know exactly what the words are for a change. I'll look around and see what I can pick up.

Well done, Roger! A bit less cynicism is needed here I think.

I wouldn't consider myself amongst the terminally cynical but there are an awful lot of factors to be decided before i'd conficently expect us to be challenging at the top this season. Far too many unanswered questions at this stage to make any prediction.

So a very reasonable 'undecided' from Vision, can;t argue with that at this stage !
Quite different from being in the 'terminally cynical' camp and stating will will NOT be challenging.

I see the ST renewals are over 9k now and heading upwards till.
12k by the end of tomorrow I say and 14k by the start of the season, which would be good IMHO without being spectacular.

If we end up with 14k out of 22k home seats taken by STH in the CCC, that will be an extremely good result.

I suspect it's 14k out of 20k by the way...

In the past, haven't the numbers mysteriously dropped back a little by the time the season arrives?!
