Terminal Boardom Just goes to show what sort of people agents are. Sidwell made a mistake in leaving us for Chelsea. He is trying to rebuild his career at Villa. Liverpool in the 70s and 80s regularly took youngsters from smaller clubs and stuck them in the reserves to learn the way Liverpool do things.

I would have thought having someone like Jags at Everton would have been enough of an incentive to go there - plus it is not London and all the "attractions" on hand.

In terms of career progression, yes, but financially it wasn't a mistake- that move set him up for life.

And never forget he didn't go there planning to sit on the bench - as with all other moves by all other players, he went there confident he was good enough to force his way into the first team.

That's just it though.

United may have put a permanent dampener on the lads career by forcing him to go to spurs. The rumours were going round that after we refused to let him speak to everton after spurs out bid them even though we had accepted there bid. All the chairman saw was the extra money and the chance to waste it on a new kop to try to get the world cup if it comes in 2018 or pissing it away buying hungarian / chinese / australian clubs rather than focusing on football.

Still i suspect he will do well, and like jags i would be delighted for him if he fullfills his potential

I think that the majority of football fans have a sense of pride in seeing a former charge do well. But there is nothing more frustrating than to see a former favourite ending up with splinters in his backside. We all know how good they are and how much better they could be. Plus, having a player move on and be successful can only be good for the former club. Look high highly respected Crewe Alex and Dario Gradi became.

Rob Jones and Ashley Ward were very decent top-flight players too

Craig Hignett, not so much
