SPECULATION - Aaron Ramsey?

by Snowball » 09 Aug 2009 14:16

Not in the Arsenal squad this weekend. Some thoughts at Arsenal that he'll be going out on loan.

Quality player but another attacking midfielder and quite young (but good experience)

With our Arsenal connections would we have any chance?

Would be fantastic to have him at Reading but I would be surprised to see it happening.

I should imagine that Rodgers' style would be very much up Wenger's steet so if any young Arsenal players are to be sent out on loan we will probably have a decent chance of getting them (if we wanted them); having said that I'd be surprised if Ramsey were to be loaned out anywhere.

There is probably not going to be much room for fabresgas, denilson, arshavin, willshere, ramsey and whoever else they have around, so I would expect one of the younger lads to be loaned elsewehere.

Loan signings can be very handy but i feel at this level we want to be bringing in playes permanently.

Loan signings are usually better for lower league clubs.

Totally disgaree with that point - loan signings are ideal for champ sides looking to go up - just look at Hull as an example. A youung player from Arsenal *say Ramsey), Spurs (say Rose) and Chelski (Bernard) would be about right...

McDermott and Hammond have very good links with the Arsenal backroom staff.

We've not seen a lot of benefit from it in terms of getting players from them but the links are there.

We've had Upson on loan from them and bought Sidwell and Harper from them. But that was years ago, so I don't think we have much of a "connection" now.

Apart from McDermott and Hammond. And wasn't it Arsenal that wanted Hammond as DOF a year or two ago.

That suggests there are still links there. You don't have to use them constantly for them to stay in place Spacey.

I wonder how hard it would be to prove we had 'links' with just about every Premier League team though

Chelsea - well obvious really
West Ham - Lampard Snr
Spurs - Dean Austin
Man Utd - Coppell
Everton - Madejski
Arsenal - Hamond / McDermott
Villa - Shorey / Sidwell
Stoke - Kitson / Sonko
Wolves - Doyle / Hahnemann

Without even having a clue as to who did their UEFA badge with who, who was an apprentice under who etc etc etc

It's the backroom staff's job the foster links with the other clubs, so yes we should have links to most other clubs in some capacity. The same as in any industry where you need to have relationships with customers/partners/competitors.

I'm not sure having sold players to clubs is the same as having strong working relationships with counter parts at other clubs, although we've seen in the past how good dealings with clubs over transfers can have positive/negative effects on subsquent deals.
