As stated earlier in the season, the Beavers are in desperate trouble, and could be with a chairman at the end of the season.

Any regulars to Scours Lane on here? Just what has gone so right for Reading Town this season. They are looking pretty good for promotion to the Southern Football League (level 8) being 15 points clear. Admitedly rivals have upto five games in hand, but Town have the points on the board and less than half the season to play.

Has anybody seen them play recently? I myself may well rather shamelessly jump on the RTFC bandwagon!

... there's chapter and verse buried away on the NL Forum - if you have the time and inclination to go through the lengthy and very erudite discussions about CVAs Insolvency Acts entering (and exiting) Administration and Appendix E of the Conference constitution.

If you really ARE that intrigued here's the direct link to one particular thread which has been going since early August: - I'm sure there are plenty more should you wish look around the site itself.

http://nonleaguematters.co.uk/forum/gforum.cgi?do=post_view_flat;post=186684;page=1;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;mh=25;session=46c751c6a347c478675faad016fa7bb9

Seems the FA issued a Fine against the Conference for breaking their own rules and NOT kicking Chester out in the first place. I think they'd gladly be shot of them now.

.... was even a rumour - recently started by Wrexham fans - that they couldn't pay the Police and would have to play the 'Border derby' behind closed doors - opening up a whole can of worms re ST holders rights etc etc !

I went down to Stag Meadow yesterday and watched Gosport Borough beat a pretty hapless Bedfont Green 5-1 on a pitch that resmbled a ploughed field.

After the 5th went in the 'keeper turned to me and said "We must have the worst defence in the league...." I did ask him if he felt Bracknell were already relgated from this one.

The pitch has been well looked after during the bad weather in that it has been playable and helped Windsor & Eton build a huge lead but the toll has been taken.

Went to Maidenhead, won 4-0 and the pitch is detiriating a tad now.

Alex Wall got another 2 as he continues to impress.

-- took a short-ish trip x-country and down the A3 to Horndean vs Warminster in Wessex One
- this league is astonishing to watch - absolutely FULL of goals, seemingly regardless of league position. Obviously Aldermaston and Shaftesbury are well adrift of the rest and get battered every week but its not unknown for scores of 6, 7, 8, and even 9 to occur between sides in quite respectable mid-table.
This was the case at our game yesterday when 14th placed Horndean bt 13th placed Warminster 7-0 - the score had been 5-0 to Warminster in September.
For example - Andover New Street's last 5 games have seen 39 goals - their last two defeats have been 3-9 and 2-9.
My Lad who is a goal junkie loved it - though I think he missed a few goals playing Rapid Roll on my phone.

Journey home fairly stress free too - avoided the M3 - arrived home just after 'There's only one' Sh.Long had nodded us in front @ Donny! :D

Superb over head kick by Yak, sealed the points in the 93rd minute.

... updates from the NL Forum today suggest Chester are 'going down for the third time....'

.. as in drowning man not club being demoted.

Players on strike; club unable to fulfill fixture last night; next match vs 'Wrecsam' already p'poned; Conference spokesman quoted as saying they WILL NOT see out the season. :|

... you could try the one about 5 to 6 posts above - just before my fascinating bumper preview of last w/e?

... or this one - which (I think) is probably the same ...

Yup! 'tiz the same - four pages of woe and misery - newest stuff on Page 4.

... really bad news is P@xford get to benefit, since they'd lose 3 to Stevenage's 6 points - should the dreaded 'Record Expunged' be brought into play. :(

Second visit for me to Stag Meadow lined up tomorrow. The anticipation of seeing Michael Meaker lining up for Mangotsfield Utd is too big a draw!

... for a fellah that several times over the last few season's has been reported as 'hanging his boots up for good', he ain't half going on for a good innings.

Since rejoining the Mangoes from Bitton last November, the old warhorse has already banged in 7 league goals from only 9 starts - still not too shabby eh?

Michael Meaker (Midfielder/Striker) : Returned to the club for a second time in November after a two and half year spell at Bitton in which he helped them to the league title. Now aged thirty eight, Meaker first signed for The 'Field in December 2004, after playing in the Hellenic League for Henley Town and Southall Town and was an integral part of our promotion winning side of 2004/05. He left to play for Hounslow Borough where he scored a club record forty four goals, before returning to Cossham Street during the 2006/07 campaign. Meaker began his career as a professional at QPR where he played in the Premier League. Whilst at QPR he had a loan spell with Plymouth Argyle. In July 1995 a £550,000 transfer to Reading followed where he made sixty seven appearances. In the summer of 1998 and after three seasons with Reading he signed for Bristol Rovers. After a loan period at Swindon Town in 2000 he left Rovers and returned to Plymouth Argyle in 2001. He was released in the summer of 2001 and opted to move into non league football with Northwich Victoria.

... watched him a couple of times 'lumber' about up front for Bitton & Hounslow - he's certainly got something about him - make sure the tea bar has got in an extra shipment of Pies though!
