To be fair however, on Jan 28th, as we sat in 23rd place and 4 points from safety, it WAS only blind faith that would have allowed anyone to predict what has happened since.

But surely, thats what being a football fan is all about?? Blind faith and total pessimism in equal measures?

+1. I feel so proud of my club at the moment. Probably the most pride since 2007, even though we're not as good. I get the feeling that these players couldn't be doing any better considering their age and other circumstances. As a fan that's what I want to see even more than winning titles and promotion etc.

^^ It occurred to me a couple, maybe three weeks ago: while far from the most successful, this has in a few critical respects been the most valuable sporting season that I've ever experienced as a fan of any ballclub --and I've been at this for a good while and have reaped my own share of the greatest glories on offer to those who live it from this side of the arena, as well as "hang in there" lessons about it never being over 'til it's over, and maybe you don't come out of it with any glory but perhaps at least a measure of self-redemption (which would appear to be just about all that this campaign, in a bottom-line analysis, is going to serve up come the end of it)
