Spain v Chile / Switz v Honduras

by bobbybottler » 25 Jun 2010 19:57

Just doing the honours.

No betting for me this evening, although I'd favour a lay of Spain. As I type this, the clearly unfit Torres blazes over. There's something missing for Spain - tempo, rhythm, something or other.

I hoping that Honduras get something out of Switz as well, the Swiss are well drilled, tough to beat, disciplined - it fair sets the heart racing doesn't it.

Lay double of Spain and Switz. Get on.

my Irish betting mates have gone very heavily on Chile at 6 /1.

I have no bets tonight.

For the sake of football I want Spain, for the underdogs I want Chile to knock them out.

I hadn't realised that the bloke from 'allo 'allo had gone on to manage the Chilean national team.

2-0 Spain

Iniesta caps a fine move, during which Torres got laid out off the ball. Didn't see it, but the ref seemed to play a great advantage because he's wandering around with a red card in his hand...

Estrada sent off, it seems. Chile down to 10 and now out of the game.

Edit: harsh red (and harsh second yellow). He wasn't even watching Torres and accidentally tripped him on the edge of the box as they meandered towards goal about 10-15yards from play.

Torres may have made a bit of a meal of it.

Shocking decision and never a red. no idea why Torres acted as if he had been pole-axed.
Very harsh score-line on chile. They totally outplayed Spain in the first 30.

Harsh straight red for a soft Behrami elbow in the Chile-Switzerland match, with play-acting by the "victim" aiding the referee in his decision

So not a lot of sympathy here

Don't know what I'm doing with that quoting/editing, tbh.

It's OK, I think we've understood the point you're trying to make.

Bar the Chile goal, a nothing second half. Just hope the Swiss don't do anything late. Would love to see Chile go through.

Very, very impressed by Chile's ball control and attacking movement in that first half.

Would have been a real shame if they'd gone out

Ideal Referee ruined the game. Spain would have gone out if it were not for the ref.
Torres = piece of shit

Chris Coleman ruined it for me by constantly mispronouncing Puyol's name as Piehole.

To be fair, he called the Chilean 'keeper's rashness.

Well from a Switz point of view that was toilet. Absolutely toothless in front of goal, and we weren't gonna score if we'd played another full 90 minutes straight after. Ah well, just England left for me, at least until Sunday, before I tune in to watch Roger Federer win Wimbledon.

On that subject I can't help but notice that during this world cup Jeremy Toulalan has become 'too-la-la' and Fabio Quagliarella has become 'quig-lee-a-rella'. Cracking commentary

I guess they all pale into insignificance when remembering the day that 'Alf-Inga-Harland' became 'Alfie-Horland'
