Though it hurts to me say this and I'll probably have to kill myself now, even I agree somewhat with bendywendy and Ian Royal

thats the link to a slightly more readable version, at the bottom of how Watford were nearly bought by a conman.

I'd rather keep Mr Mad than any alternative. I would hate to see us struggle to pay HMRC or sign the worlds greatest 11 and win the champions league.

Ditto that.

I do think it's much more likely to be true this time thogh. Losing control of his flagship project must have been a right kick in the balls for him.

But it won't be a drain on his finances or hanging round his neck - he'll have more time to concentrate on RFC now.

A £400m project was always too big for him and would always be in association with a larger developer. The problem was he didn't see the property bubble burst. In the end it was only £30m and that was funded by Lloyds not him. Ok, he didn't make a profit but his losses were minimal. He will be pi55ed off that his name is now a little tarnished, which is why I think he will keep RFC.

You're all welcome. Even snowball who can sit to Brendy's left, whilst I'm on his right, and pretend I don't exist if it makes him feel better.

Oh and clique: a small group of people who spend their time together and do not welcome other people into that group.

Clique fail.

You could well be right. I thought that during that, bloody awful, documentary the interviewer said "What does it owe you now?" and he replied "40m". He didn't sound like none of it was his.

Any road, I wouldn't been too worried about him selling it to someone useless, he's still got too much nous.

Have any of you actually read that piece? It's an utter non-story. Not only is the source cited as 'a buzz in football circles', it doesn't even claim anything remotely solid. Really slow day on the Guardian sports desk, I guess...

Does anyone know the real figures involved, and how much of a hit he took?

FWIW, I know the journo involved and had a chat with him about this story last night, so I know what is behind it.

I'd say there's nothing significant to worry about in the short-term, but there *may* be developments in the medium term.
