Royalwaster Well that didn't take long - Sonko out with his old knee problem. Guess we had a lucky escape there - and Gorks is a much better player all around anyway.

Ingy injured too. Well, well, well.

Question to ITFC_Keane;

In all seriousnes,, I watched your game on Monday night against Coventry. I assumed there was some sort of sponsored silence !! I thought the mute button on my remote was busted. That was seriously quiet.
Not trying to wind you up, am just genuinely interested why there was no atmosphere in what was a pretty comprehensive win ?

Probably because like us they know a win was masking over the cracks and have next to no optimism of being promoted?

Maybe. But it was silent. Having been to Portman Road a few times with Reading, they used to make a fairly decent racket. Just wondered why they didn't bother making ANY noise at all. Without doubt, we had plenty more noise at our place between the two bottom clubs (as they were) last Saturday.

Not a shock to hear the two centre backs are injured again, Ingimarsson's solitary game this season probably proving RFC right in not offering him a a deal to make him stay.

I watched some of their game on Monday night and I have to say the young left back (Cresswell) looked a pretty tidy player. He was one that was talked about on here as a cheap'ish option for us. I think they ended up paying about £250-500k (depending on appearances etc).

Didn't realise that Cresswell had been mentioned on here in the past. Did wonder why he may not have been on our radar, thought he was brilliant.

As for Sonko, he went off to have treatment then came back on before eventually realising he couldn't carry on when he went down for the 2nd time. Some things don't change then...

It was interesting in commentary it be mentioned that he wasn't actually training with Ipswich during the week, just playing the games. Made me wonder if training with us was why he struggled in the pre-season games, ie he couldn't cope with the day to day demands of training. I was always unconvinced he was the right option for us but he was having a solid game until he went off, although tbf he didn't have a lot to do.

I think he was only mentioned as a possible around the time it was already being said he was signing for them. I'm sure (at least I'd hope) McDermott and his staff were aware of him but probably they didn't feel they could justify the cost when we already had Harte and Williams!

I'd imagine he had quite a few interested parties chasing him as he looks a bit of a snip at the price the tribunal ended up setting.

You're probably right that we didn't feel we could justify the cost when he joined Ipswich given that we only signed Joseph Mills after getting the money for Long.

Having just had a look at the BBC article, your guess was right, the fee was an initial £240,000, possibly rising to £520,000.
