I'll add the old County Ground at Northampton. Just dire.

Wax Jacket this thread is giving the lie to the old "football was better watched from a crumbling terrace" line

Not sure Juve fans would agree.

Loftus Road and Fratton park are just plain dreadful
Anfield is cramped, atmosphere over hyped. (I have sat in both the Kop and the away end)
The away end/concourse at Turf moor is run down/awful
Ricoh and Vicarage Road as previously mentioned
The wreck (Aldersh*t) three sides made up of bits and pieces

Plenty of grounds before they were moved/developed such as:-
Stamford Bridge, The Manor, Bootham Crescent, Gresty Road, Victoria Park, Vale Park, Somerton Park.
Three or four of those you stood on coal slag heaps.

Not been there myself but reports from Stadium:MK are pretty bad.

No Fixed Abode Mad Stad has to be up there as there is just nothing to do near the ground.

Future stadiums will be built with Holiday parks and Nightclubs next to the gates just for you buddy

Agreed. Mad Stad is very sterile around the ground. No pubs, no shops, no stalls selling RFC stuff. Just not a pleasant matchday experience. The ground is fairly good, lots of leg room, but it lacks charisma.

No question. I'd say it's very slightly above average in the 'out-of-town flat-pack' category, but they're all basically rubbish.

Another vote for Loftus Road though - at least in the flat-packs you can see both goals. oxf*rd hell.

Loftus rd, you have to be kidding, within mins of some of londons best boozers. walkable from a number of train/tube stops.
low roof keeps atmosphere in . only gays that sit down complain about leg room.

most depressing is vicarage road. standard.

Agreed that Madejski is sh*t due to the location, there are worse grounds though. Loftus road is one of my favourite, not sure why its getting such bad reviews here?
