Academy end of season play offs

by andrew1957 » 02 May 2013 14:54

It has probably been said on another thread but I think this feat deserves a thread of its own.

I just wanted to congratulate the Under 18's on a superb season. The win yesterday absolutely guarantees they will be in the top 3 Academy sides this season and that they will be in the play offs starting 11th May.

This group are the most talented since the group including Siggy, Pearce, McCarthy, Church, Pearce and Karacan. Hopefully they can go on to even greater things in our first team.

Well done to Dolan and all the players. I am sure many of us will follow your progress with great interest.

They actually didn't need yesterdays win, qualification was guaranteed before kick off.

What they need to do now is win the last game to give themselves the best chance of winning their group and getting the easier route to the final.

One of the good thing's about going down is hopefully these lads will get a chance in the 1st team which would not happen in the Prem.

With 'established' players not coming up with the goods and Nige lAadkins known to have given youth a chance in previous clubs, they probably have their best chance of progressing.

Anyone know if the semi final on saturday will be behind closed doors or whether they will switch it to the Mad Stad and let people pay to watch? I'd be up for going

I asked the @readingfc twitter feed if the format will change for the play offs as I'm sure many fans will be keen to watch, and they ignored me.

Doesn't surprise me. But I am sure they would reply to you if you acted like a 12 year old asking for a RT

Should we be worried about losing these players because we are not cat 1?

Uche is a class act. If he doesn't play for one of the top 4, then I'm Donald Effing Duck

No. They're professional players.

We might worry about losing a talented 14 or 15 year old for less than we might have under the old system.

Wait until you see Samuel then.

Samuel is good, I just think Ikpeazu is an all round goal scorer. Samuels goal on YouTube is something else.

We must get those two lads on professional terms before the leeches crawl in
