As a one time away STH, I wish this issue could be approached from the other side of the equation.
Typically, travelling fans get a sh*t deal and this, in my view, culminated in the accident waiting to happen that was Hillsborough. Frankly, Liverpool fans that day were forced into those pens with little less ceremony than holocaust victims into Belsen bound cattle trucks
I'm proud of the fact our club still gives away fans a fair deal in the form of half the North Stand and wish others were forced to do the same.
While the usual whingers belly ache about lack of atmosphere, nothing does more to get most stadiums rocking than a full and vociferous away end.
Why should away fans at St James Park need an oxygen mask to reach their seat whilst gleefully being told that the lift is
"Out of order"
And, if it's still the same after all these years, why should travelling fans at Gillingham have to get soaked in an exposed temporary stand when all the other 3 sides of the ground are covered? There comes a point when the temporary becomes permanent and a club should be duty bound to make good or provide seating in other more hospitable areas.
The time to stop taking the p+ss out of away fans should have been and gone years ago but, sadly, I can't see things improving anytime soon
