Rumours: Timo Pukki and Fernando Karanga

by maffff » 25 Jun 2018 21:34

According to the mail we're linked with both.

Pukki is on a free from Brondby, close to a move to Greece and wanted by Chinese clubs too.

Karanga would come for a fee, he's been linked to Corinthians for €5m from CSKA (Bulgaria)

Pukki’s got 48 goals in 95 apps at the top Danish level and he’s free? Worth a shot.

Know next to nothing about the other guy.

Bit random those two names. Karanga looks handy on the standard YouTube vid - no idea of how good the Bulgarian League is. Has scored a few in Serie B as well

From just a quick look at Youtube:

Pukki looked to have some decent pace and some cute finishes requiring composure and skill - lobs, backheel etc. But a lot of the breakaways suggested terrible defending. He's Finnish and I've never met a Finn who wasn't batshit crazy, but they're pretty hardcore.

Karanga seemed to be more headers and tap ins from crosses from terrible defending. Brazilian in the prime of his playing age knocking around the lesser European leagues doesn't inspire confidence.

A cheap punt on Pukki doesn't seem a bad idea, although is the Danish first tier a lot better than the Dutch second? (Obligatory Novakovich reference). I think I'd want someone a bit of a more surefire hit as well though....

Both of them seems too many on what look like they ought to be cheap punts... and Karanga doens't sound like he'd be that cheap.

Brazilian Série B... not a great standard at all. He bounced around between Band regional league until 2016.

Timo Pukki I agree definitely is worth a punt. Has played in some good leagues over the years aswell.

Random Brazilian guy er no. Misses isn’t to shabby though.

yep fair point, important detail that :)

Not convinced by either tbh. PUkki on a free maybe worth a look, but didn't do too well at Celtic from all accounts

Snowflake Royal (Obligatory Novakovich reference).

How can I be forthright about this to you...Novakovich will never ever be seen in a Reading shirt again. It's quite apparent. Please accept this and never mention him again

Isn't Karanga a Bond villain?

Perhaps he'll turn out to be the Man with the Golden Boot.

Sound like the sort of players we have signed in the past that are destined to be bench at best.

In Pukki's quotes from the Celtic days he openly said he couldn't handle the physicality of the league.

Both come with massive health warnings. Karanga sounds a little like Mendes and Pukki like Rakels. Both unproven over here, could work, could not.

Apparently the Bulgarian league is slightly better than Scotland's :)

I’d be surprised if Pukki came here, would gladly take him though.

With hindsight Pukki might have been an OK signing.
