You were talking a bit of sense until the last sentence.Simon's Church wrote:Since being reappointed as chief executive in December 2018 Nigel Howe has:
Sacked Paul Clement as we were starting to show some form.
Taken 3 weeks to appoint Jose gomes despite him having nothing on his CV to suggest he would be a successful championship manager.
Employed a remarkably scatter gun approach to recruiting players.
Appointed mark Bowen as sporting director despite having no experience of such a role.
Released multiplie videos of himself talking management speak.
Put himself front and centre of the squad photo.
Sacked Jose Gomes despite most of the fans seemingly wanting him to stay.
Seems to be about to hire Mark Bowen as manager despite no experience of management.
Are these the actions of a successful ceo? Were we better off with Gourlay?
The owners sacked Gomes, not Howe.Simon's Church wrote:Since being reappointed as chief executive in December 2018 Nigel Howe has:

Given Clement's record over that season, excluding the first five games, was similar to Gomes', that's far from certain. Especially seeing as it was the loanees who made most of the difference.Mid Sussex Royal wrote:We would have been relegated under Clement.
More accurately he's going a bit lala and is pissed most of the time it seems.Old Man Andrews wrote:Why would they ask Sir John anything? He has had his day. Sir John for all the good he has done for us is a dinosaur and has no idea about modern football.
Not much of a surprise that people remember the most successful period in the club's history.Snowflake Royal wrote:The hero worship of Howe on his return was stupid. People remember Coppell and McDermott and conveniently forget Bullivant, Burns and Rodgers.
Still, CEO is going to require more than 11 months to judge given the lack of obvious metrics under his direct control. Gomes hasn't worked (his defenders are out of their minds), now we see if Bowen does. If so, that's a feather in Howe's cap even though he doesn't tick the boxes for the right appointment.
People also seemingly forget Nicky Hammond was director of football and part of that role involves searching for the next manager. The chairman Sir John Madejski also had a say in who was hired.Snowflake Royal wrote:The hero worship of Howe on his return was stupid. No-one hero-worshipped Howe. There was though great relief that Gourlay was gone and replaced by someone who knew the club inside out.Snowflake Royal wrote:The hero worship of Howe on his return was stupid. People remember Coppell and McDermott and conveniently forget Bullivant, Burns and Rodgers.

There was more than one person saying he'd solve everything because he was completely brilliant.Zip wrote:No-one hero-worshipped Howe.
