Winston Biscuit Joaquin extended his contract at Betis by another year

he turns 41 next week and made his debut for them in September 2000

Career has gone on so long that he managed to play 50 times for Spain and yet last played for his country 15 years ago. :)

2. Bundesliga up and running this weekend.

Initial signs suggest an all Hamburg chase for the title. Both HSv and St Pauli looked impressive.

true story - many years ago an english team (Spurs?) played them in a european competition and the next morning at work someone asked where that team was and I typed in young boys into google. Spent the next week sweating at my desk, while my team mates lolzed at me

Greatest commentary line ever.

Winston Biscuit
Winston Biscuit Bordeux in the relegation zone and have 4 games left to save their season.

They are a massive club in France, have won multiple cups and leagues in their time and were champions 13 years ago. Heard a French journo in the week try and give a comparison to English football and he said it would be like Arsenal getting relegated.

Their finances are such a mess that its predicted likely they will go into administration if they go down too so next season may well not be a glorious promotion season back to Ligue 1

Bordeux now demoted to the 3rd tier due to their finances. they say they will appeal it though

Just been reading about a certain team that's still owe Bordeaux close to €10m in unpaid transfer fees. Anyone care to guess who?

Clauses in the contracts of Kessie & Christensen would allow them to leave Barcelona for free if they are not registered as Barca players before the opening La Liga fixture on Saturday.

Wonder if this is a standard clause related to players who are out of contract (as Christensen and Kessie were) who aren't subsequently registered by their club after their free transfer.

A segue to world leagues briefly. This is from back in July, so might have had it.

Sierra Leone's Gulf FC were level on points with rivals Koquima with one match remaining, so both teams set out to win that final game, and by as many goals as possible. And Gulf FC certainly achieved that, winning 91-1. Only problem is, Koquima won 95-0. The clubs remain 'under investigation' for match-fixing  but in the meantime the matches have been replayed with Gulf FC securing provisional promotion having won 3-0, whislt Koquima lost.

La Liga, Champions League (in which he scored 15 goals in 12 games), European Super Cup, and 50 goals total (including six for France) - Benzema surely a lock now for the Ballon D'Or (if he wasn't already).

Could someone with a bit more knowledge clarify something for me.

From what I can see, the Barca situation is down to the club spending too much money, getting in the shit and then trying to fcuk over the players they spent lots of money on but who have inderperformed in order to replace them with other players they can't really afford, having already taken a leaf out of Leeds' book and sold future potential earnings.

Is that the nub of it or am I missing something because a lot of the shit I see on social media is very pro Barca and I don't trust it. I used to have a fair bit of respect for the club but I wonder if I bought into the mythology a little too readily.
