Stranded So Hunt has said he plans to tweak things a bit - would hope he just starts by playing square pegs in square holes and if there isn't a suitable "senior" player available, play a kid.

So bring Azeez in and maybe even Abrefa if they are the best natural option for a position.

Looks like Carroll will start, if fit, so if we have Joao in there as well - get the ball wide and keep getting balls into the box - high for Carroll or more into the feet for Joao. Just pepper their box constantly.

Win ball, get it wide, midfield bomb on, cross, cross, cross. Do it enough and with AC and Joao in the box, something will happen.

If this is what we plan to do and we end up playing in a 4-4-2 shape, I hope the starting midfield pair is Casadei and Hendrick. I know the latter doesn't always gets plaudits, but it's probably our best, most balanced midfield pairing at the moment.

I'm not sure who else we have available in wide areas other than Azeez at the moment?

I am all for square pegs in square holes naturally but if we are going 4-4-2, we may need to be a little inventive and have NGW as more of a winger - so midfield 4 of NGW-Casadei-Hendrik-Azeez

My XI for a 4-4-2 would be:

Lumley

Abrefa
Sarr
Holmes
Yiadom

NGW
Casadei
Hendrik
Azeez

Carroll
Joao

If Baba is fit, which some seem to suggest he may have to start instead of Abrefa.

Yeah I was assuming Baba wasn't fit. If he was he would slot in at LB, swap Yiadom to RB and then have Azeez and NGW as the wide players. I'd also put Mbengue in for Sarr as well at CB personally.

Hendrick is the last midfielder I'd play. Let's games completely pass him and us by and has no real strengths.

Empty shirt half the season.

I'll be interested to see if a change in formation/tactics/outlook will see a different Jeff Hendrick - we all know there is a decent player in there and we have seen more than a few flashes of it, so working in a 2 help him.

You'd rather Loum or Fornah instead?

Not for me. Loum has been far too unreliable, even though we know on his day he can be good. Fornah is weak for me. Decent enough with the ball, but alongside Casadei it's a midfield lacking experience and would get undone by some more seasoned pro's in the middle, which a lot of clubs we have left to play have.

Needless to say, everyone has something to prove under a new manager, so I'd hope any of the mentioned players could have a better impact than they've shown this calendar year.

With the same XI I’d play 3-4-1-2, with Yiadom at centre back and Azeez in a free role.

Can’t keep track of who is available. If we want to play 4-4-2 then play someone like Scott or Camara on the left. I like Hendrick and Casadei individually but would prefer Loum in there for balance.
