Stranded He's apparently wanting to see if he gets any offers from the Championship before committing to drop down a level, which is fair enough and shows confidence in his ability.

My view, if this is going to happen it will be right at the end of August.

With Ahmed and Abrefa, Dorsett, Jacob, Ryan and Clarke, Lane, Camara, Ehibhatiomhan, Kyerewaa, Tuma and Okine-Peters... it seems to me he's either superfluous, or blocking progression.

Presuming a big part of his proposed signing is him joining as a player/coach so should be ideal to help mentor the younger players.

I’d be ok with him as he is so versatile
But also not especially bothered if he chooses not to

I'd also suggest that given he can play pretty much anywhere in midfield or out wide, he'd be an ideal option to bring on after 65 minutes if we're holding on and need a bit of energy and nous to see out the game. If he's coming as player/coach I really don't see a problem.

Presuming this done deal is still stuck in negotiation limbo

Red letter day - I agree entirely with Ian. Pointless signing in my opinion. WE NEED A STRIKER.

Sorry don't agree. If the signing is to primarily add to the coaching team and to see out the odd game, I'm in. Need a different voice to the likes of Noel, legs of wood and Gilkes.

So hire a coach, its cheaper than a player

He'd be an upgrade on pretty much all of those, and id be surprised if half of them are still here next season

And on SSN

We’re getting a chunky squad now. After all the nonsense about having 5 players to start the season we’re now looking at the likes of Ryan, Stickland, Rushesha, JOP, Sackey, Osho, Spencer not getting a look in at all

Ritchie is a good player but I’m confused as to where he fits in.

Would allow for a lot of loans out at least...

Yeah, though as said before I don’t really get the enthusiasm to loan people out. Not sure we gain a huge amount from it

He’s a good player, had a good season last year and will add a lot

However he left Pompey because he threw the toys about not going to get game time. I assume we’ve given some pretty big assurances he will start the majority of games

I’m interested to see how this plays out. Not sure if he’ll be wing or fb hit someone else isn’t going to be happy

Surprised it's a 2 year deal. Think this is an excellent signing though and will definitely help through some of the youngsters

No issues with it being 2 years. If he’s fit enough being 35 won’t be an issue. Again may have swung it for him to sign here
