MR. CYNICAL
Brogue Let’s be honest he’s a non league player in the last 6 months of his contract if we decided to go for him in jan I can’t imagine the fee is going to be more than what, 50k? If that. I know couhig is tighter than a Scotsman but if we want him, and it means we don’t miss out on him surely we would move for him now. He’s spent more on fireworks this season…

Thought Accy were in league 2.

living up to your username i see  but of course you are correct, accy are indeed in league 2.

I'd expect Bradford to be favourites. If nothing else, it's commutable from the Accrington/Burnley area so would offer him the least disruption outside of football.

Unless, of course, he wants to move back down south.

He's 21, hails from Hastings and has been up north since 2021, apart from a few games loan at Swindon in 2023.

Brogue Yep looks like I got this one wrong.

500k  for a player out of contract in the summer  from a league 2 club

Has couhig had a blow to the head

No it was a blow to his leg :o :?

Not really Reading’s fault, if this is at all true, I think the fee has been pushed up as Accrington sensed generating a bidding war with Wigan and now the player would seem to have decided on Reading after Wigan also matched the reported £500k price.

How reliable is Mr O’Rourke? FLW are reporting he’s Wigan bound after they matched Reading’s reported £500k bid.

The Chronicle’s take on the situation & player

If this is true, Benn must be very highly rated by the club - let’s hope he also has a bit of pace about him.

O'Rourke is pretty good tbh but like every journalist, he doesn't have a 100% hit rate. He generally only posts stuff that he has good reason to believe is accurate. Doesn't mean that Wigan haven't improved their wage offer etc and are back in the drivers seat.

Guess we'll see in the next few days.

Money may talk, but realistically Wigan are not an exciting opportunity. They got relegated at the same time as us, solved their own existential crisis in 2023 and have been mediocre L1 since. We had a better team than them for 2 years even with Dai fcuking us throughout.

As a club I think we currently have more potential than them.

Indeed that article states: "The young defender is also very fast and athletic whilst able to drive the ball forward and commit to offensive outputs."

Some interesting connections over the past couple of seasons.
Brighton features quite a bit with Vickers going there, MOM and Doyle coming on loan and now Roberts and Ward started off at Brighton before spending time elsewhere.

Pompey have landed Ritchie and Lane on us.

Smith went to Wrexham and Marriott came from Wrexham.

Otherwise we have now had a couple who may have been mates at Derby plus those that Richardson has worked with before.

Gone are the days when we used to get decent players from Brentford but hopefully one day the Brighton link will lead to better players than MOM and Doyle, more like the exciting winger currently at Bolton.

So we're signing the L2 Micky Van Der Ven?

Amario Cozier-Duberry. Seems to have broken through this season at Bolton and is one of their leading scorers so far, although now a Brighton player he came through the Arsenal academy originally. Would suggest that Brighton would have a preference to loan him into the Championship next season.

A deal is over the line, I've heard. Not sure if it'll be today or tomorrow for the official announcement.

Seems like a good signing to me, top performer in L2, only just turned 22 so room for growth so should be a good sell-on potential if he does well.

Speaking of a conveyer belt of talent, as I've previously said, Abraham Kanu is doing well at Forest Green so we should definitely be extending his contract and getting him out to a L2 club next season at a minimum if we can't make space for him with us.
