Drop the ‘Royals’ nickname?

Should we drop the royals nickname and go back to the biscuit men?

Sutekh Definitely get rid, really don’t want the local comedians at other clubs chanting back certain things whenever someone in the Reading contingent shouts “come on you….”.

Yeah. However can we cope?
A local comedian has mocked my team's nickname.
Now I'll never be able to show my face at Horse Guards.

Orion1871 Forget the tech nonsense.

The vapers or the hairdressers after all the vape shops and hairdressers on the Oxford rd.

Isn’t that the case in every single town in the UK though?

windermereROYAL Huntley & Palmers stopped production in Reading 50 years ago, why would we go back to that? it would make zero sense.

This doesn't meant you have to drop the name. Lots of clubs still have their historic names despite the industry leaving.

Maybe our new nickname should reflect Reading's place at the centre of the UK's high tech Thames Valley?

The IT support guys.
The Coders.
The Spreadsheet Monkeys.
The WFHomos.
The Laptop Jockeys.

This one.

And chants about turning it off then on again.

lets just go with Courages then, how about the piss heads?

The pearl clutching cunts on the Team Board would have a fit.

A little bit too long to fit into a decent chant

Tradition matters. If I'd have been around when H&P moved I'd likely have said don't change then. But we've had decades as the Royals, its part of our identity.

People should be capable of separating the (reprehensible) actions of an individual, from an institution, and an institution from a fricking nickname.

We are our cultural heritage, good and bad, whitewashing it is never the answer.

so if we go with something like "The Techies" to reflect the predominant industries of the area, does that mean we can chant:

A..
I..
A..
I...
e..
i..
o...
Up the football league we go!...

(I'll get my coat...)
