Odd if the plan was for Watson was to play 30 mins and McIntyre 60 mins they didn't switch them round with Watson coming off the bench instead.

Watson only playing half an hour does suggest even more that he's come back slightly ahead of schedule.

Could easily be the intention to give them a half each, but Watson wasn't feeling fit enough so came off early. Doesn't have to be a recurrence, just not quite as ready as planned perhaps, or caution.

Not necessarily that odd - better to start someone who you know can't last and take them off earlier than to bring them on at halftime say and them have to go off again with 15 mins left.

Depends where they both were in their respective recoveries.

Hopefully he or Richards will be eased in, with the other providing cover, to pair with Gunter, allowing us to get Bacuna back into midfield where he can drive us forward.

And hopefully, by the start of next season he'll be first choice R(W)B, with Obita recovered and taking L(W)B.

We’ve often given a player an extra 12 months contract if they have had a bad injury, would be disappointed if we don’t offer him this. He can then try and force his way into Jaap’s plans.

I can’t see Gunter being over happy to step down and let a youngster audition for his place though and would hope Gunter at left back isn’t a long term thing although Gunter at LB, a fit Watson at RB and Bacuna in midfield is not an unacceptable permutation. Not sure who would drop out to let Bacuna play in the middle though !

That’s something for Stam to think about how he fits, Bacuna is obviously not going to be able to play every game so I would like to think Stam is looking for a long term option, young players are usually never the same after a serious injury and in my opinion the only way to find out if one is truly good enough is by playing them. I do not see Stam bringing in a new fullback anytime soon and why should he? Don’t fix what isn’t broke, but I do see a point where Watson has to play

I'd take Bacuna in midfield over any of the three there currently, and I like all of them.

I'd also be amazed if Gunter ends up in the PL with anyone other than us next season. And we're unlikely to go up.
