Yes, Jim McIntyre:Sutekh wrote:McIntyre?maffff wrote:Both Watson and McIntyre coming back off injury got a half each. Was pre planned.

Not necessarily that odd - better to start someone who you know can't last and take them off earlier than to bring them on at halftime say and them have to go off again with 15 mins left.KC Royal wrote:Odd if the plan was for Watson was to play 30 mins and McIntyre 60 mins they didn't switch them round with Watson coming off the bench instead.
Watson only playing half an hour does suggest even more that he's come back slightly ahead of schedule.
Hopefully he or Richards will be eased in, with the other providing cover, to pair with Gunter, allowing us to get Bacuna back into midfield where he can drive us forward.TiagoIlori wrote:Seems like a Watson is a couple of weeks away from being fit, do wonder how he fits Stam’s plans consider he’s been out for so long
I don’t see either of them getting into the first team the way things are going, Stam seems to have found his best 11Snowflake Royal wrote:Hopefully he or Richards will be eased in, with the other providing cover, to pair with Gunter, allowing us to get Bacuna back into midfield where he can drive us forward.TiagoIlori wrote:Seems like a Watson is a couple of weeks away from being fit, do wonder how he fits Stam’s plans consider he’s been out for so long
And hopefully, by the start of next season he'll be first choice R(W)B, with Obita recovered and taking L(W)B.

He has 7 months left on his contract, can’t help but think Stam will have to give him the chance to prove himself.Nameless wrote:TiagoIlori wrote:Seems like a Watson is a couple of weeks away from being fit, do wonder how he fits Stam’s plans consider he’s been out for so long
Don’t think any player who has been put for a year can be in anyone’s plans.
Will need to get back into training and play 6 or 7 u23 games before he’ll be on the radar properly.
His aim will be to be part of the squad for preseason. If we don’t go up Gunter may be tempted to grab a chance in the lower end of the Prem....
You'd imagine, if there's no chance of going up, once we're safely clear of relegation, he'd get that chance in league games? Assuming he's done fine in U23 games up to that point.TiagoIlori wrote:He has 7 months left on his contract, can’t help but think Stam will have to give him the chance to prove himself.Nameless wrote:TiagoIlori wrote:Seems like a Watson is a couple of weeks away from being fit, do wonder how he fits Stam’s plans consider he’s been out for so long

Well we are pretty safe from relegation now, and I can see us being there or thereabouts in the playoff race until very near the end of the season.muirinho wrote:You'd imagine, if there's no chance of going up, once we're safely clear of relegation, he'd get that chance in league games? That’s something for Stam to think about how he fits, Bacuna is obviously not going to be able to play every game so I would like to think Stam is looking for a long term option, young players are usually never the same after a serious injury and in my opinion the only way to find out if one is truly good enough is by playing them. I do not see Stam bringing in a new fullback anytime soon and why should he? Don’t fix what isn’t broke, but I do see a point where Watson has to playNameless wrote:Well we are pretty safe from relegation now, and I can see us being there or thereabouts in the playoff race until very near the end of the season.muirinho wrote:You'd imagine, if there's no chance of going up, once we're safely clear of relegation, he'd get that chance in league games? I can’t see Gunter being over happy to step down and let a youngster audition for his place though and would hope Gunter at left back isn’t a long term thing although Gunter at LB, a fit Watson at RB and Bacuna in midfield is not an unacceptable permutation. Not sure who would drop out to let Bacuna play in the middle though !
In terms of a new contract Watson first of all needs to demonstrate he is fully fit, and he can do that without being given first team starts.
I'd take Bacuna in midfield over any of the three there currently, and I like all of them.Nameless wrote:Well we are pretty safe from relegation now, and I can see us being there or thereabouts in the playoff race until very near the end of the season.muirinho wrote:You'd imagine, if there's no chance of going up, once we're safely clear of relegation, he'd get that chance in league games?
