Leicester crash 3-1 at Coventry so have 65 points after 27 games. 19 games (57 points) left so still quite a way to go before they get into failure territory.Mr Angry wrote:Leicester have already lost more games than we did in our 106 season; the main difference is that they have only drawn twice so far (we ended up drawing 13 times....)
After 26 games, Leicester have 65 points; after 26 games, we had 65 points; so neck and neck currently.
Leicester's remaining league fixtureswindermereROYAL wrote:Leicester can only drop 13 points in 18 games to beat it now.
One thing, every time Reading get relegated to the lowest tier of the football league the top division in the country is won by either Arsenal or Liverpool....WestYorksRoyal wrote:Great, having the 106 record will keep me warm when we're preparing for our first 4th tier season in 40 years without any senior players on the books.
What other record? If you're talking the 33 games unbeaten in 2005/06 then that's not a football league record for going unbeaten.Sanguine wrote:Southampton's form has gone a little under the radar. Despite Leicester 'running away with it', they are only eight points behind in third. The Saints lost four in a row in September, and those are their only league defeats this season, currently unbeaten in their last 20 games. When do we start worrying about our other record?
I thought it was a record in the second tier?Sutekh wrote:What other record? Huddersfield hold the current FL record managing 43 games across 2010 and 2011. That is bettered only by Liverpool (44) and Arsenal (49) both in the PL.
It wasn't even a record when Reading did it, as it was bettered by Leeds (34) in 1968 and Forest (42) in 1978
13 wins from the start of the season?Sanguine wrote:Southampton's form has gone a little under the radar. Despite Leicester 'running away with it', they are only eight points behind in third. As above, was referencing 33 games unbeaten, which I thought was a Championship level record.Snowflake Royal wrote:13 wins from the start of the season?Sanguine wrote:Southampton's form has gone a little under the radar. Probably around game 6 next season.
Arsenal hold the unbeaten record, don't they? Went an entire season.
Pah, if its not an FL record its not worth talking about.Sanguine wrote:As above, was referencing 33 games unbeaten, which I thought was a Championship level record.Snowflake Royal wrote:13 wins from the start of the season?Sanguine wrote:Southampton's form has gone a little under the radar. Have to say Ian, I'll decide if I want to talk about something. You can join in or not.Snowflake Royal wrote:Pah, if its not an FL record its not worth talking about.Sanguine wrote:As above, was referencing 33 games unbeaten, which I thought was a Championship level record.Snowflake Royal wrote: 13 wins from the start of the season?

Never seen it said to be an actual record.

Fwiw, and obviously you won't talk about it as it's not worth it, I think 33 games unbeaten is a tougher ask than 106 points, evidenced maybe by Leicester still having a pop at our points record this season despite going no more than 10 games without a defeat.
No, just reminding our resident internet ref that others decide what they want to talk about.Snowflake Royal wrote:Someone got out of bed on the wrong side this morning.Sanguine wrote:Have to say Ian, I'll decide if I want to talk about something. You take things way too seriously sangers, it was a light hearted comment expressing an opinion.Sanguine wrote:No, just reminding our resident internet ref that others decide what they want to talk about.Snowflake Royal wrote:Someone got out of bed on the wrong side this morning.Sanguine wrote:

Everton might be disappearing from that soon of course (but unless they stay down for 10 years or so will retain their record of most top flight seasons).Mr Angry wrote:Just had a look at the most consecutive seasons in the top flight of English football (ie: both the Premier League AND the old Division 1).
Quite surprising really; not the top 7 (which are easy to guess), but the teams in 8th, 9th and joint 10th, and the number of Years spent consecutively in the top flight.
Top ten clubs by number of ongoing, successive seasons in top flight*
