In the case of Loader he clearly thinks he is far better than he has shown us so far and it leaves a very bad taste in my mouth that he has not even tried to make it here at the club that has spent a lot of money bringing him through the youth ranks.
When a young payer acts in this way (badly advised or not) one can only really hope he fails wherever he ends up as a lesson to those coming after him through the Academy.
No it doesn't. I mean Loader has shown he can actually trap a ball and pass to his team mates rather than spaff the ball into the crowd. Which is more than Antonio managed when he was here.paultheroyal wrote:Not feeling the same sentiment. This has not got the Antonio feeling about it.Hogmeister Royal wrote:Sad to see him go, had a lot of time for Danny Loader and felt he could and should have been given more of an opportunity in the first team (instead of bring played in midfield the only time he had any sort of run in the team). In the circumstances, can hardly blame him for this decision and personally expect him to do a lot better than some of the comments above predict.

29 Jun 2020 18:18Perhaps I am being harsh but I find the way Loader has acted over the last couple of years annoying.sandman wrote:Well that's not very nice.andrew1957 wrote:I am a great follower of the Academy and love it when we bring young players through and give them a chance. He's only a young lad and whilst I think he's made the wrong decision I hope he finds success wherever he goes next.

30 Jun 2020 11:57It feel like there's been a shift from developing players for positions to favouring developing general technical ability which has led to a large number of young modern players just not seeming to have a clear role on the pitch.Hound wrote:Its a shame how its all worked out really. Sounds like we spent a fair bit on his wages and his general development, and it is frustrating that he seems to have been set on leaving for quite a while now for whatever the reasons
He's definitely not shown a lot in his games for us. He is obviously still pretty young but its difficult to see where exactly he would fit into a side and what his best position is going to be
Undoubtedly talent there though
interesting point, and I think thats exactly right. Definitely a lot less specialising in younger age groups now. For better or worse I don't know reallySnowflake Royal wrote:It feel like there's been a shift from developing players for positions to favouring developing general technical ability which has led to a large number of young modern players just not seeming to have a clear role on the pitch.Hound wrote:Its a shame how its all worked out really. HRK, Loader, Ejaria, Obita, Olise potentially... no idea what Boye thinks his position is...
I blame Barca and Spain.

just been reading up on it a bit recently. Apparently quite a few academies, maybe most, don't even specialise positions to about 16 years old nowadays.Snowflake Royal wrote:I like the idea, I just think it needs to be rolled back a little.Hound wrote:interesting point, and I think thats exactly right. Be nice to see a few more full backs who aren't just failed forwards who try hard, some twinkletoes who know how to hit the byline and cross etc.

30 Jun 2020 15:43Reading between the lines RFC withdrew the new long term (presumably 2 year plus) contract but have offered at least a one year extension as the club web site says that Danny Loader had refused a short term extension until the end of the season, but a long term extension was still on the table.sandman wrote:https://www.getreading.co.uk/sport/foot ... ssion=true
Interesting from JLo.
Following the change in his representatives, however, BerkshireLive understands that the contract put to him was later accepted by Loader but the change in circumstances for the club as a result of the coronavirus pandemic - not to mention their precarious financial position - meant the December offer was no longer available.

30 Jun 2020 16:04There had to be a contract on offer at the same terms or better than his existing one or we would not receive any compensation.andrew1957 wrote:Reading between the lines RFC withdrew the new long term (presumably 2 year plus) contract but have offered at least a one year extension as the club web site says that Danny Loader had refused a short term extension until the end of the season, but a long term extension was still on the table.sandman wrote:https://www.getreading.co.uk/sport/foot ... ssion=true

30 Jun 2020 16:58I assume that the deal referred to on the RFC website is for a one year extension on the same terms. Clearly he won't sign this deal but the fact that it is on offer should mean we are in line for compensation.Nameless wrote:There had to be a contract on offer at the same terms or better than his existing one or we would not receive any compensation.andrew1957 wrote:Reading between the lines RFC withdrew the new long term (presumably 2 year plus) contract but have offered at least a one year extension as the club web site says that Danny Loader had refused a short term extension until the end of the season, but a long term extension was still on the table.sandman wrote:https://www.getreading.co.uk/sport/foot ... ssion=true

From his point of view signing a short term or 1 year Deal was never going to happen.
The clear-out at Reading continues as 14 youngsters have been released by the club.
The news comes after Danny Loader's departure on Tuesday after he refused to sign a contract extension with Royals.
U23 players Liam Driscoll, Lexus Beeden, Andre Burley, Marcel Elva-Fountaine, Ramarni Medford-Smith, Akinwale Odimayo, Werick Caetano, Ethan Coleman, Tyler Frost, Roberto Nditi, Ben House and Adam Liddle have all been let go.
U18s duo Emmanuel Obamakinwa and Pedro Neves have also left the club at the end of their scholarships.
First-team players Vito Mannone and Adrian Popa, who have been out on loan over the past year, will not be having their contracts renewed.
Meanwhile, the five loan players have all signed short-term contract extensions for the remainder of the season.
Lucas Boye, Ovie Ejaria, Pele, Ayub Masika and Matt Miazga will all remain with the club until the end of the campaign, which is due to be on Wednesday, July 22.
Goalkeepers Coniah Boyce-Clarke, 17, and James Holden, 18, have completed paperwork on deals which will keep them at the club on professional terms.
American striker Augustus McGiff, who turns 18 today (Thursday), has signed a professional contract with Royals following the culmination of his scholarship year.
U23s forward Femi Azeez has been offered a deal for next season.
This certainly changes things. So Loader was willing to commit to a new deal after all. We have made a right mess of this since last summer.sandman wrote:https://www.getreading.co.uk/sport/foot ... ssion=true

02 Jul 2020 23:54We probably offered him a much better contract than he'd now warrant and we've still got a longer term deal on the table for him.Zip wrote:This certainly changes things.
