Hardest London ground to jib

by TheMaraudingDog » 31 Aug 2012 12:30

In my experience The Emirates. Tried and failed twice. Also tried and failed once at Highbury. White Hart Lane the only other failed jib mission. Something about North London.

Successfull jibs include:

Wembley x 2
Chelsea x 2
QPR
Fulham (at LR and CC)
Palace

What about easiest?

The Millennium Stadium always struck as having virtually no crowd control. No turnstiles, just temporary barriers with stewards scanning your ticket. Twickers is the same. Maybe it's because rugger buggers don't get up to such shenanigans.

But yeah, went to Cardiff a few times only once without a ticket (lost to Arsenal on pens FA Cup) but yeah was a piece of piss to jib.

Double up, pass a ticket back, blag, jump a gate and run, storm a disabled entrance...

Why limit it to London?

As a rule of thimb, I'd have thought that older grounds would be harder to jib because they tend to be surrounded by brick walls (often topped with broken glass), iron gates and fencing. Newer grounds have to have significant safety measures (like large fire doors) which presumably make them a jibbers paradise? Your experience tends to suggest otherwise.

I remember large numbers of Reading fans trying to get into Griffin Park in 1993 after being locked out. Not many made it in, as far as I could see.

West Ham - used to be notorious for letting people climb over the turnstile or putting 2 thru together.

London because its a spin off from the two other London ground threads.

Yes, fire escape a classic.

Easiest deffo the oldest. Unless shit team are just less well prepared for a large drunken following.

Tbf it's not something I've ever thought about doing mainly because Reading fans don't have a culture of doing it. United fans clearly do, I suppose mainly due to the fact they could sell out absolutely anywhere 10 times over which leads to shedloads of fans travelling without a ticket either looking to utilise the black market or jibbing. That leads to the safety in numbers element which United clearly have and Reading clearly don't. Personally I'd love to have the balls to attempt a jib at a football ground but when you know you're going to be the only one doing it with absolutely nobody backing you up it'd be a bit of a lonely, futile experience.

^ This is it. For better or worse our team doesn't have legions of pLOLstics from all over the place flocking to our games like flies to shit. Inadequate people who seek glory by buying into a successful Club from a city they have no connection to.

Lets be honest, even you can admit Reading fans aren't likely to storm a gate, and are more likely to grass someone up. Unless our supporters grow into a more intimidating bunch, it's not going to happen.
