That would be a shame if he wants to go I think we would only get £40K compensation for each year he has been in the Academy as he cannot sign a pro contract until age 16. Correct me if I am wrong any wiser nobbers.

Can't formally sign a pro contract until 17. It's common for scholars to sign agreements that they will sign a contract on their 17th birthday but don't know how legally enforceable those are, what the minimum age is, etc. Also don't know what CBC's DOB is - if he's due to start his scholarship this summer then I think that would protect us until he signs pro terms, but until then we're at risk of another Osei-Tutu.

Man United have a great record with young goalkeepers so I don't even think we have that in our favour.

That was a good day.

So he'll sign a scholarship in the summer. That's good news. If he was an autumn baby then we'd have longer to wait.

The boy looked class to me. Let’s hope we can keep hold of him

Another oustanding young player. With age of our current goalkeepers, hopefully he stays and can be called into the first team squad next season.

ManU and Arsenal looking to battle to sign Coniah apparently

Let’s hope he and those advising him feel he can get more opportunity at Reading.

Just saw this on Twitter. I hope he's as good as all that and stays.. What is it with us and keepers?

Considering we have him playing U23 PL Div 2 games at the age of 15, I really hope he sees that the best way to get games and experience is to stay here. He did look very good when I saw him, no surprise Utd are interested

From Sky Sports Transfer Centre:

"Manchester United, Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain look set to be disappointed in their efforts to sign Reading wonderkid Coniah Boyce-Clarke - with the 16-year old set to sign a new deal at the Madejski Stadium.

"Sky Sports News understands the young ‘keeper, who only turned 16 in March, will sign a three-year deal with Reading later this month.

"The goalkeeper has stunned Reading’s backroom staff with his mature performances in their U23 team."

Very surprised by the change of heart to stay but fantastic for the club. He might only be 16, but to be involved with the U23’s already says a lot. He could well break into the first-team before he’s 18. Good luck to him!
