Reading travel to Barnsley tonight looking for their fourth straight league victory after a 2-0 Championship win against Birmingham at the weekend. Danny Guthrie, quickly emerging as Reading's player of the season so far, scored a free-kick in each half to make it three in a row and put Reading into sixth place in the table. The Royals are threatening to build on an excellent recent run after a slow start to the season. New loan signing Billy Sharp failed to see any action, despite being named on the bench, and will be hoping for some action this evening as the Royals make the long journey north.
Reading have a good recent record against Barnsley. Our last visit saw the Royals pick up three points with a huge 4-0 victory in March 2012. Karacan, who remains out injured, was on the scoresheet twice that night. McAnuff and Roberts scored the other goals with Reading well on their way to promotion out of the Championship. Another victory like that tonight would give Reading fans plenty of hope that this season might produce another promotion.
