Run Ends As Royals Salvage Late Point

Reading ended a run of three straight league defeats with a late injury time goal at home against Nottingham Forest. Drenthe, a substitute on the hour mark, supplied the free kick that saw Stephen Kelly head home with 95 minutes of the game played. The Royals should consider themselves very lucky to have rescued a league point when they appeared to be heading to a fifth defeat in six. The visitors were the better side for the majority of the game. Forest should have left with the full three points until the late revival from a Reading side that had previously failed to impress. Reading remain in ninth place and, despite the poor run, just a single point outside of the play-off positions.
