Reading FC Favourites For Relegation

Reading will have to prove the bookmakers wrong once again this season to avoid relegation from the Premier League. Despite winning the Championship last season to gain promotion to the top tier, betting companies have Reading as clear favouries for relegation. Luckily this is very unlikely to bother manager Brian McDermott and the team who, we hope, and perhaps expect, to thrive as underdogs as the season gets underway. The Royals have combined a batch of excellent new signings with a very strong league winning side from last season. The signs all point to Reading being well placed to launch a positive campaign. William Hill have Reading as clear favourites for the drop and are offering evens on that bet. The Royals are also only 5/6 to stay up. Paddy Power appear a bit keener on the Royals chances and have us joint bottom of the pile with Southampton, offering 5/4 for relegation. We are 4/7 to stay up with Paddy Power, also with Southampton, while the bookies seem to offer Norwich as the next likely contender to finish in the bottom three.
