Reading have announced a major new signing - former Newcastle United midfielder Danny Guthrie. Guthrie signed today on a three new contract as Reading continue to build their squad for the return to the top tier. There was even better news - he was snapped up on a free transfer after his contract with Alan Pardew's Newcastle ended. Guthrie comes to Reading with an excellent reputation and clearly ticks all the boxes after four very successful seasons with Newcastle. The Magpies originally signed the Liverpool trainee for £2.5 million four years ago and you would have thought his value had increased after adding 19 appearances to his career record during Newcastle's impressive season.
