Late Goal Rescues Point Against Fulham

Reading again failed to record a first league win of the season in a dramatic afternoon's entertainment against Fulham at the Madejski Stadium. After taking a 1-0 lead in at half time, thanks to an impressive goal from Leigertwood, Reading fans were again left disappointed as the team let a lead slip. Reading had looked comfortable in the first half but let their solid performance slip in the second half. However, in the end, a dramatic late equaliser made it feel like a point gained as Reading picked up their fourth point from eight league games. It was still 1-0 with half an hour left to play before the game exploded into life with Fulham turning the game around with two goals.

With five minutes left to play McCleary, who had come off the bench to replace Tabb, made it 2-2 after he converted Adam Le Fondre's cross. But there was still plenty of time for a dramatic finish. The visitors looked like they had stolen the victory when Berbatov drove home with two minutes left on the clock - set up by former Reading player Steve Sidwell. To Reading's credit, they kept pushing forward, and were rewarded on 90 minutes when Shorey's free-kick wasn't cleared and Hal Robson-Kanu scored from close range to level the game again. The Royals might have snatched the victory in injury time but were denied by the goalkeeper as the game showed no sign of calming down.
