Reading's Glorious Cup History

After Reading set a dubious record of being the first team to score five goals yet lose the match in both the FA Cup and League Cup, it got us thinking about our cup history. The 5-7 League Cup defeat to Arsenal last night probably stands out as one of the most memorable cup scorelines in our history - even more so considering our 4-0 lead. The Royals have never managed to get past the last eight of the League Cup and have just the one FA Cup semi-final to their name way back in 1927.

We've done reasonably well in recent history in the FA Cup - twice reaching the quarter finals in consecutive seasons until last years immediate exit against Stevenage at home. Overall though there's no doubt our cup history isn't exactly glamourous. We've updated the match reports archive so you can see just our cup competition results and reports. Our cup history since 1994 is shown as that's when this website started up.
