Next Manager

Well it looks like that the axe has fallen on Jose’s tenure. Reliable sources saying it will be confirmed in 48 hours (so presumably are thrashing out compensation and lining up replacements).

So time to run the annual ( ) who should be the next manager of Reading FC poll

With Bowen at the helm its 100% going to be Mark Hughes lol.....pretty uninspiring but has that experience at this level which is just what we need to get us out of this mess.
Would prefer Houghton, but everyone is saying he will not come to Reading which seems strange as i dont see much difference between tinpot Brighton and tinpot Reading. Both are down south with newish stadiums and fairly similar ambitions.
I guess we will find out in a few days.

If Manchester City, Stoke and Saints in the Premiership are 'this level' then yes he's got experience at this level in abundance.

We need Ian Royal at the helm. Safe pair of hands.

Shame on you for no Gareth Ainsworth as a poll option too.

Hughes would be a very sensible option and will do very well here, I’m sure if it. I personally would have him over Hughton. I just can’t understand people horror that it will be Hughes. He’s a decent manager. Plenty of experience and hopefully will give the players a kick up the back side they need. Any fan looking at our position currently is deluded to think we could get a better manager in. Very happy if true.

Phil Parkinson just because I think I’ve stopped caring who the manager is.

Compared to Ian Royal yes. I feel you don't respect Ian enough.

Mark Hughes has a terrible record at a number of clubs, why on earth do you think it will be any different at Reading?!

Hughes and Hughton two good managers

Hughes - worked at a high level consistently. Done OK - well at all his jobs apart from one sticky spell at QPR. Seems to work well with talented, flair players (which we supposedly have?). No championship experience however
Hughton - efficient, organised manager. Good knowledge of the championship. Taken Brighton up, taken Newcastle up, taken Birmingham to the playoffs. However, can see the likes of Swift and Ejaria perhaps struggle a bit more. Seems to be a 4-4-2 man / 4-4-1-1. Do we have the players for that?

Overall, be happy with either. Probably prefer Hughton but those turning their noses up at Hughes surprise me

Terrible at Queens, mediocre at Park, but was on the verge of turning it round at Rangers....
