What's the culprit here? Klopp too loyal to certain players when out of form?

Brighton are a great team to watch. But Liverpool today, Dear oh dear, they were terrible.

To early of course, but recent games have looked like a potential changing of the guard. City, Liverpool and Chelsea all to one degree or another looking like fading forces.

Interesting to see TAA being given offside in the Liverpool match. Just like Rashford he ran for the ball from an offside position but didn’t touch the ball...

Thought it was ironic that Lallana was part of a Brighton midfield that ran rings round Liverpool’s. The same Lallana that who was let go by Liverpool because his legs were seen as pretty much gone

Always thought Lallana was a cracking player held back with injuries and it seems like he’s having a positive influence on the Brighton squad

Rodgers in trouble too

Can see a couple going after next weekends round of fixtures, with the weekend after that being a cup weekend

West Ham Everton next weekend so the loser of that will be gone. Potter at Anfield next weekend. O’Neil at Bournemouth will be gone if they lost at home to Forest IMO - and possibly even Marsch with them up against Brentford

Will give any new managers 9/10 days (assuming a quick turnaround) of the transfer window left

After Everton fans shot fireworks at Southamptons hotel the night before yesterday's game, The Saints leave some Hotel feedback.

There could well be a changing of the guard however in terms of Liverpool and City there are IMHO extenuating circumstances.
If you were to take these front 4 players out of Arsenal and Spurs we might expect them to struggle to win games:-

Saka, Nketiah, Jesus, Martinelli
Kane, Son, Moura, Kulusevski

In Liverpool's case yesterday these front 4 players were out:-
Diaz, Jota, Firminho, Nunez
Nobody knows if they would still have lost at Brighton, who I expect to make the top 6 this season, and I take the point made by another poster about their midfield, but the team has been severely weakened with these unavailable as well as the player who, up until this season, was considered by some to be the best centre-back in world football.

As for City losing the following has had an impact on their defence:-
Dias, Stones, Laporte, their 3 main central defenders

None of these clubs warrant sympathy but Arsenal, Man Utd and Newcastle have had a generally injury-free run of late whereas the 3 clubs mentioned haven't and injuries do obviously affect stability and performance.

I think Liverpool's problems this pseason run a little bit deeper than a few injuries up front and so do a lot of my Liverpool supporting friends.

Most think the midfield is either past it or not good enough.

As I posted -I take the point about Liverpool and the midfield.

This
I have a few Liverpool supporting mates and they believe that both the attacking and defensive issues are the lack of quality (and legs) in midfield. Not creative enough going forward (although Nunez seems to be missing the ones they do create) and defensive cover from midfield is all but non-existent

Martinez was out
Dalot was out
Martial hasn't made it passed 60 mins and is injury prone, zero back up
Sancho out
Greenwood out

the teams playing in Europe and the cup are going to be playing 'three games a week' until May

It's inevitable that injuries and fatigue are going to play a huge part in this season. I'm still not convinced Utd will make the top four. If Rashford and Casimero were out for any length of time I think we'd struggle
