Not convinced at all by Conte to Spurs. He is a manager who needs to spend. Can spurs afford to spend?

Rafa would certainly be a better fit at Newcastle, I think he is a manager who needs to be loved and he certainly will not get that at Everton.

Never understood the Eddie Howe hype, I think Everton are too big for him.

Yeh, agreed on Howe, I'm just going off an Alan Nixon tweet saying he's in Liverpool, which could obvs mean absolutely anything.

Rafa back to Newcastle makes so much sense. Everton fans hate him, Newcastle fans love him, and he's been there and done that with them in the Championship, so even if they go down he'll stick around and knows what it takes to get them back up.

Agreed. Took them up spending sh*tloads, got them to finish 16th, 9th, 12th, 14th, then relegated them. All while spending a lot of money

Doesn't make him a bad manager at all, he clearly has done well, but he is talked about as if he has achieved something far greater than he really did

Not sure that's entirely fair. The club had some money and invested wisely, sure. But when they came up to the Premier League, the regular first XI included Steve Cook, Charlie Daniels, Tommy Elphick, Adam Smith (all defenders), Marc Pugh and Matt Ritchie, all of whom had played for Bournemouth in League One - as had Brett Pitman and Charlie Francis of their Championship winning side, which included Callum Wilson, signed from then League One Coventry.

Howe deserves credit for improving the players at his disposal and instilling a very effective 'Bournemouth way'.

Time will tell. His reluctance to accept the Celtic job was a strange one, he couldn't really have lost by managing up there for a bit. Celtic were a basketcase at that time and he could have only have made them better, even be it only slightly. Surprised he didn't go up there for a season and try and prove himself.

I don't think you can win with the Celtic job. Fail and your career is ruined. Succeed and people say it's an easy job (Brendan Rodgers).

At the time Rodgers went there, it pretty much was the easiest job in football, given Rangers had spent the previous 4 years in the lower divisions.

Arguably complemented Rodgers’ move to Leicester though

His stock had fallen somewhat given his last season (and a bit) at Liverpool, especially considering the plethora of signings that simply didn’t work out, the likes of Manquillo, Moreno, Markovic and Balotelli

Just to get his name back on the map would help Howe as the longer he is unemployed, the more he’ll be forgotten about

Good amalgamation of Charlie Daniels and Simon Francis there to make Charlie Francis.
Eddie did well in getting the best out of players that he had come to know but generally struggled to do the same with expensive players brought in with the egos that go with being expensive.

For that reason I wonder how he would cope with the higher profile names at Everton, Newcastle or indeed at any Premier League club.
He is also a country lad from Dorset who previously struggled with the bright lights of Burnley and didn't do very well there.

Rumour has it that his missus did not want to move to Scotland and that he had too grand a perception of what back-up staff and transfer funds he would have at Celtic, not matched by the Celtic board.

Newcastle will be a strong draw for Howe, ex Bournemouth players already there and a direct flight links from Bournemouth / Southampton to Newcastle airport. He is a real strong family man and he would not move house. He has been waiting for the Southampton job, but thats not coming anytime soon, so he will jump at this.

He can't really lose with the Newcastle job, I would find it hard to believe he would do a worse job than Steve Bruce. If he keeps them up then it really enhances his reputation.

Still think Newcastle should give Everton a call and see if they'll let Benitez leave, I'd be willing to bet a small fortune they'd be more than willing to.

Benitez has taken some pride in sticking to his contracts (and openly letting clubs stiff him if they want to) - I don't think he'd walk out on Everton, although I guess they could give him a nudge.

Rightly or wrongly, think he’ll go if they lose Friday, never a good time to falter just before an international break

Will be interesting to see who they'd go for next. Would think it would be the sort of job Frank Lampard would be interested in.

Intrigued why Rafa would move to Newcastle. Everton's owner has a history of investing huge sums into the club, new stadium underway and a relatively stable hierarchy. The new owners at Newcastle have hardly covered themselves in glory thus far. And his family live on Merseyside.

Doesn't strike me as the sort of manager who needs unconditional fan support. He's probably had more clubs where's not been that welcomed than been adored. Take out the last 3 games and he's had a decent start at Everton. There's the obvious ghost in the room, but Everton fans have suffered far more under most of the managers since Moyes left. Reckon they've got the best bet of winning something for ages.

Think if they were to go down that route, they’d get JT back

Although not sure if there were any reasons behind his departure from there in the summer

You honestly believe Rafa will be there by the time the new stadium is ready? The supporters are never going to accept him, a couple of bad results and the pressure is already on him and it will only get worse over time. With Newcastle, Benitez has the opportunity to build the club up from the bottom, be the man in charge and have a budget. He is also loved up there.

I think the heavy spending days at Everton are well and truly over, they let Ancelotti spunk it up the wall on a lot of average players which they are now paying the price for.
