79Royal TVP are useless. I spoke to three different coppers at various points and none of them were interested, all of them very rude.

The club, TVP and the council need to sit down and discuss a way forward, because match days are getting ridiculous.

The copper who let my 3 year old try is helmet on outside Reading Station was very nice. Probably happy as he was miles away from the action.

9 pages. That's one hell of a stroking session for me when I print this out and get busy on it.

TVP did the business at the station but were negligent in how they policed the ground. I'm surprised by this as they usually 'go hard'.

Just imagine what this board is going to be like when something serious happens.

Yes, it could have been a hell of a lot worse but RFC are not used to this kind of violence. It kinda follows Manure around like a bad smell - a smell I'd rather not get used to.

working class hero As we walked past the coach it seemed [from the other side of the road] that the MUFC were just off to pee in the bushes. From this there was much gesticulating and chanting. The RFC families went back to get away..... Had I seen a woman being assaulted I would have put on my brown cords and bicycle clips and gone to help.

I hate violence. But I deplore violence against women even more. When Dill was manager on the way back from WHU we saw a woman being abused by several Chelsea thugs. I told Mrs WCH that if they hit her I would have to intervene and to just drive off and leave me. Imagine my joy when they walked away having 'only' frightened her.... The old heart was failing at the very thought of having to confront 4 Chelsea thugs whilst wearing an RFC shirt.

Perhaps some of those who let a lady be attacked need to consider the options available to them? And yes, I am all too aware that intervening means getting a good kicking.

i saw some of what happened with the coach, didn't see any women getting attacked though, just some middle aged guy in a Reading shrt getting hit in the back of the head then running off and the rest was behind the coach.
me and some other guys started to cross over the road as it looked like someone might be stuck on their own with the united lot but by the time we got over the police were already charging down on their horses.

Dirk Gently I also heard that a gang of Irish Man U fans tried to attack smokers outside the West Stand at H-T.

I have a feeling there were quite a few Man U fans without tickets. I walked past the away end 10 minutes before kick off and there must have been 200 of them queued around the away turnstiles looking like they were trying to force their way in.

2 world wars, 1 world cup TOTALLY SHOCKED!!!

I always thought Man U fans were ok. Never in my wildest dreams would I have expected this sort of trouble. Why??

We all know they're bigger and better than we are. We have no history really. Certainly no bad history. Or am I missing something?? I thought it'd just be a friendly affair with them applauding us politely and giving compliments wishing us the best of luck as new boys.

Why on earth be so angry towards us?

Oh yeah, we stopped them going top.

But it sounds like they were really up for it anyway. W*nkers.

Much as I hate violence, part of me wouldn't be displeased if we returned the favour. I'm sure the Chelsea boys will be more than happy to help us out.

Northern monkies. I officially hate them now.

I was chatting to 4 or 5 Man U fans in Callaghans before the game and they were very friendly and wished us luck as they left.

Garry Mann

The main charachter was apparently some well known fan who makes up his own CD's with just him singing on it! Puts the Scorpians to shame....!

Indeed this is the fella and was leading the chants in the pub - have to say most of which were very funny. Mainly directed at Leeds/Man City/Liverpool of course....he was very friendly and we chatted for sometime, he even made the point of thanking the landlord of the pub with a round of applause....

Had a chat with a few of them and they all seemed a decent bunch although one conversation I had with this chap he was determined for me to actually hate ManUtd. When I said I had no reason to hate ManUtd he was very off put by this, almost confused

Afterwards of course and with all the anti-England chants I realised that in fact it's all part of this stigma which they crave to be hated and of course controversial to the point that I actually found it quite ammusing they consider themselves a separate nation.

Perhaps copying it off Barcelona and the whole Catalan nation....?

There needs to be a top-down improvement in the approach to policing football matches. The Police will only send as many coppers as they're paid to send and are probably warned to turn something of a blind eye and stay out of trouble, os no wonder they appear to do nothing.

rfc2005 the group of twats waiting by the barrier before geting on the coach were singing "shove your england up your arse" :? then singing
"portugal, portugal". last time i checked man utd were an english club therefore they have to be the most stupid set of supporters in the world. when i asked a man utd fan about this he said "there is no point supporting england when you support man utd, we are our own country and we support our players not the england squad." i would put my house on them all having a go at ronaldo during the world cup!

I watch most England games in Manchester with United supporters. I think most of them care more about United than England, but then I care more about Reading than England so it doesn't seem that odd to me. But plenty of them still support England.

Was there trouble in town before the game?

There were rumors of it in the R & T and we were pretty dissapointed(sp?) when the driver went down the IDR rather than through town.

Did Utd bring the 4 - 6 K that had been predicted?

I arrived in town at about 3pm. We walked through town, but didn't see any trouble where we were. Plenty of mounted police, and the bouncers were checking season-tickets and making fans cover up their shirts. Didn't see anything when we walked back down to the station to get a bus, other than some very raucous United fans drinking outside the Three Guineas.

Where were all the police when the trouble started? all still at the stadium, that's where. I was walking back and the Man U coach stopped and they bundled off and started on some poor innocent Reading fan.
A chap walking behind us started shouting " come on then" my friend shouted at him saying not to encourage them.
