It was sh*t and I immediately sat down in protest!

I'd love to know what the club regard as constituting popular demand.

We do not need stupid music to celebrate a goal. As has been said many times before, that's the one time when supporters do not need encouragement to go wild and make some noise.

paultheroyal Atmosphere was woeful today - and went up an octave when the music was played -

Do you think that was because of the music or, perhaps, because we'd just scored a goal?

It was called sustained cheering - so the combination of the two (music and goal) added to the atmosphere.

More people than not danced to the music.

That is the essence of this whole pointless argument. As I said in another thread, if 95% of the stadium dance to it, they will continue to play it.

As I have also said, maybe they brought the music back as people complained about where it was... instead of saying how "plastic" it is and how it annoys you, tell the club.

Although, I think the dislikers of tom hark will be in the minority, so it's a unwinnable argument.

Oh my god, here we go again. It is the old 'I don't like the music and I'll ignore the fact that a substantial proportion of the crowd does (or at least joins in)' game.

If you don't like it then just ignore it, but don't ask half witted questions like that in your last sentence. Just look around the stadium - it is painfully obvious what constitutes popular demand.

I think it's more that this piece of music is played by a lot of clubs now (most out of the prem) and so it's generic. It wouldn't be so bad if it was something related to the club, like Terry & June. The BTB people said that they might try it, but then clearly decided not to bother. It might be a "what the hell?" moment to start with from some fans (those that don't realise why it's our tune for a start) but it would only take a month of playing it before it caught on and people danced to that. Would be much more fun.

Quality - the players toil blood and sweat for a goal - get one - but good old Royal Blue sits down in protest because music is blurted out - good god!!

 or is it

also LOL @ certain 'Nobbers texting me saying 'Murked' when we scored because I had £1 yes that's ONE WHOLE POUND on a goalless draw. I will gladly throw that pund away to see us score thanks.

tom Hark - DUMP

Terrible and totally unnecessary. Doesn't aid the atmosphere a single bit, just looks and sounds SHITE. If you want to hear awful music give me a shout and i'll send you some!! 8)

But 16,000 enjoy it and join in. Sustained cheering is what it is all about.

Maybe we should refer this to Brainiacs on Sky One.

Exhibit 1 - we score goal - how long do we cheer for and at what decibal.

Exhibit 2 - we score goal and play Tom Hark - how long do we cheer for and at what decibal.

I think i know which one will come out on top.

But apparantly it's dangerous to stand nevermind dance like a prat in a seated bowl? (that's a different arguement)

i'm not a fan, i'll never be a fan of playing a REALLY REALLY dated piece of old crap after we score so a few kids can dance around after a goal, do you really need a woeful song to dance to?

Just shout your nuts off when we score, its far more fulfilling than dancing like a kunter.

But thats just it AP - no-one does shout there nuts off when we score - or even sing for that matter at times. This is a little bit of encouragement.

Let it go.

So when Reading score everyone sits on their hands?

It's just not the same without 80's chart top 20ers the Piranhas and their lyrical masterpiece.

You have to laugh or else you'll cry.

do do do do do
