Cheapest 11 players in the Premier League

by andrew1957 » 10 Dec 2007 18:19

After our fantastic result on Saturday it got me thinking when the last time a Premier League team took to the field without one player that cost more than a million pounds.

In fact the 11 players that started cost RFC a combined total of less than £3 Million. It just goes to show the amazing feat that everyone at the club has achieved to get us where we are today.

The total is as follows:
USA - free
Shorey - £25K
Ingi - £175K (total)
Murty - £825K (total)
Sonko - free
Hunt - free
Convey - £850K
Harper - £400K
Gunnar - £100K (estimated as it was an undisclosed "nominal" fee)
Doyle - £78K
Kitson - £350K (total)

Total - £2,803,000

Good thread Andrew. When you think how much Torres cost and indeed players on the Liverpool bench it really is staggering how little our starting line-up cost.

Since 1871 have we actually hit an accumulated total of spending on transfer fees to get close to the Torres fee?

or how over inflated Prem prices are!

The cash value of the player is only tht on the day you sell them, so its not worth speculating

Also the sale value is not the same as the player's value to the club!

The club has made a superb return on investment and long may that philiosphy continue rather than the spend, spend, spend so often suggested on here.

Nice work, but it's another £50,000 for Shorey, and Gunnarsson was more like £200,000, taking the total to £3,003,000

But can you get another £14-15M from the rest to hit the Torres fee?
