Agree with arthur pint although i thought Henry was ok first half however he got in a few problems with the agressive left back from Lerkil and bottled it a bit in the 2nd half.
Man of the match for me was Doobs and Pearce who were both magnificent in the air and Pearce was very vocal, more captain like than doobs, i have to say i was very impressed with him.

It was far too hot today however i do think that if we dont raise our game against Halmstad we will get thrashed...

Arch Well it certainly gets to have a familiar ring to it if you bang on about it long enough. Where did you get that quote from anyway? '"we will stay with what we have got till the January window", did they buy ..........No' Er, that would be yes. The problem is, if you engage in exaggeration and hyperbole at every opportunity (such as "we'll sell 8 to 10 of our first team players on the cheap and replace them with academy starlets" or "the moment the club gets a sniff of a fee in the millions all reason will be out the window") no one - not even the other STGs - are going to take you the least bit seriously.

Seriously Howser, what the feck are you on about?

Thanks Stuart. Think you are right Pearce does look good, from what I could tell from the management they really seem to rate him too. Good to see the 3 young lads playing but it's up to them now to make the step up, I think so many Reading fans really want them to.

Did it strike you how poor we were from corners? We must have had about 30 corners, the deliveries were really frustrating.

crossie Doyle's got a 'minor hamstring injury', hasn't he?

there's nothing " " about his injury. He picked it up in the friendly at MK and had to be substituted.

I went to the reserves' Basingstoke friendly today, and can confirm that when it comes to set-pieces, all teams at all levels at RFC are indeed trained to play "the Reading way".

howser In january last year we were getting in a perilous position, admitted by Coppell himself when he said after we got beat in september by west Ham 0-3, that he thought we were going to struggle so yes we went into the January window with renewed vigour and determination to get some new blood and do everthing possible to get clear of the bottom 3, we got one, probably decent player, in Marek, and one ex-prem has been in Duberry, hardly bank breaking efforts to stay in the Prem, and most people will agree with that!!

Duberry was brought in the year before.

Yes, Marek may have cost £1.3 million or whatever but to argue that last January was in any way a succesful bit of wheeling and dealing ...

UpNorth Local goalie played a blinder and kept out numerous shots.

Lets sign him then!

If he's good enough for a Swedish 5th division side, he is good enough for us 8)

I haven't argued anything of the sort. I merely pointed out the total inaccuracy of suggesting we never spend any money or bing in any players. Whilst Kebe is almost certainly toilet, if he and Marek perform well and we go back up that January business won't have been too bad IMO.

Yes it didn't keep us up and was lacking at the time. But it isn't like we bought nothing, or just a couple of useless nobodies.

If Marek fulfills his potential, then in some way it was a successful bit of wheeling and dealing. Even if the jury's out on Marek, that's a country mile from saying we didn't buy anyone, which has been claimed by more than one person.

I was trying to spell Cisse's name phonetcially as pronounced by the Swedish announcer, I have no idea how the word is spelt in Swedish and my Swedish is limited (some might say like my English!) by I'm told the way he said is like the Swedish word for p!ss or wee.

Just watched the highlights from the OS, and 3 things struck me:

1. Matejovsky was involved in almost everything good, whereas there was not 1 creative pass from Cisse at all.

2. Long was unbelievably wasteful.

3. Henry looked lively down the right.
