Anyway, on the OS in the article with JM welcoming Mooney he also confirms there is money to spend and we are looking to supplement the squad before the end of the window.

Well done Mr. Madejski, deserves his round of applause before every home game if he allows us to bring in a couple more players who can play in the 1st team, not just compliment the squad.

To be fair though, we've just spent £200,000, - hardly a big percentage of the money we got for Kitson and Shorey.

You have a point there, add players who can take the club forward, we seem to have a team full of "one's for the future/hungry for success" who do nothing other than clutter up the wage bill.

Anyone think this might be a response to seeing how the team performed (note: not simply the results obtained) in the opening salvo of games?

We clearly needed something else up front (although it may have been clear before the first kick) and lo and behold ...

What we need is someone who can stick the ball in the back of the net on a regular basis.

The YouTube clip shows he is certainly capable of that.

Very reminiscent of Trevor Senior. Looks and striking style.

Or like joe gamble or alan bennett. There are two sides to ever coin RR, you should know that.
The only thing he has proven so far is that he can score goals in a terrible league not worthy of league one. I am not ruling him out or being negative, I hope he does well and I will definitely get behind him, but, acting like he is a proven player is a bit laughable.

I've certainly proven I can score goals also.....in my back garden.

Out - Kitson £5,000,000 Shorey £4,500,000

In - Hunt £500,000 Mooney £200,000

Net spend - minus £8,800,000

Big up Mr Mad, leaving everyone in no doubt about his commitment to get us back up.

Isn't some £3m of the fees dependent upon certain things happening? That would not be counted yet in any real world accounting.

Polite though it might be for new players to compliment the squad I'd much prefer it if they would complement it.

Ok then, £6.5 million in, £800,000 out - still shows great ambition.

Would be an interesting comparison to compare how much we paid for the team/squad that got us up last time and how much the current squad costs.

Don't get me wrong, can't argue with the signing. I am happy we are investing in young talent. He might turn out to be great, he might not. But at this stage scoring goals in a league of poor standard isn't a clear indicator of what potential quality he may have. Here's hoping he can score as much as doyle in his first season.
