Just a thought - if Lita leaves at the end of next year when he's out of contract, will we be entitled to receive compensation? (I take it he'd still be under 24)

I very much doubt it as we didn't take him on as an academy member - but then I don't know how these things work.

He will be 24, so it whether the rules are 24 and under or under 24.

Nothing to do with academy members.

We'd have to offer him a deal of equal or greater terms thsan is current deal. We didn't receive compensation for Sidders because we gave up offering him deals.

Wasn't Sidders 24 by the time he left? Surely, if he wasn't, we'd have been stupid not to offer him a contract just to get the compensation?

He was a product of Bristol City academy. Rumour in Bristol is that he is going off on loan again not sure where maybe Portsmouth.

And I think Pompey have used up their quota of loans. That's what I read anyhow.

Not necessarily so BW

The transfer window is now closed for permanent signings and will reopen on 1 January 2009.

In the Football League, once seven days have passed since the closing of the summer transfer window on 1 September, loan deals are permitted.

However, in exceptional circumstances, clubs can apply for special dispensation to the Premier League or Football League outside these times

Anyway who is to say they did not put the registration in yesterday and are just waiting to agree some residual matters before announcing it?
I agree that probably more likely to be a Championship club but then they have to wait 7 days before they can do it so why leave him out of ressies?

maybe Coppell just dropped him and thinks it's more important to see Hunt some more to decide whether to drop Long and Mooney to get him into the swing of things

Maybe but it is odd that he was not at the Mad Stad Saturday and there has been no mention of him since even though he was a likely transfer target having declined a new contract. The point I made earlier about loan deals being agreed in principle but going through after the deadline is ilustrated by whats happened in the case of Linvoy Primus. The following is from the Charlton OS

Charlton's efforts to recruit Linvoy Primus on loan are continuing, but might not be resolved until after the end of the transfer window.

Addicks boss Alan Pardew told the media at the end of last week that although all parties were agreed in principle about the Portsmouth defender's move, further discussions were planned regarding the length of his switch to SE7.

The paperwork was unlikely to be completed before the end of the August transfer window at midnight on Monday (having been extended 24 hours into September because the deadline fell on a Sunday), but the loan can still go through after the deadline.

Lita has NEVER been at the stadium when he's not been involved in the squad, be it for injury or just being dropped. Coppell commented on this in the past by saying something like "some players just can't sit and watch games, and I won't force them". Players like Murty and in the past Little have been great dressing room characters and are usually very keen to be involved each week so you'll see them, but not L8ita.

Key difference is that Charlton are a CCC club so are able to loan players from Monday anyway and with no games til the 13th they have no need to rush it through.

That's not quite true, he finished up at Bristol but he was originally with Chelsea until he was, I think, let go at 16
