RUMOUR - Bikey to stoke

by bottom left hand corner » 21 Dec 2008 10:55

Tony Pulis wants to bring Reading defender Andre Bikey to Stoke for £2.5m. (News of the World)

I wouldn't have thought they would want another reading player :?

Was there not a rumour that we were looking at another CB the other week, folk said we did not need one, perhaps we will after all.

No way we would let him go for that - he is worth £5M plus IMO. He will go on to be a top PL centre back.

Made me chuckle this one why on earth would Bikey follow Kits and Sonko to Stoke ?? the only reason wuld be that the club want to unload him and they are the only team interested !! Bikey has built himself a pretty good reputation sice he has been here, he has cleaned up his act, apart from a very confusing off at Cardiff, and would no doubt set his sights higher than a potteries relegation battle.

After Sonko's horror tackle yesterday,Stoke may need a new centre back.
Bikey would be mad to consider Stoke.

'Stoke boss Tony Pulis is eyeing a £2.5million move for Reading defender Andre Bikey. ' (NOTW)

'Reading defender Andre Bikey is on his way to Stoke is a £2.5million deal. ' (Sunday People)

Guess this is just genius journalism with them putting another reading player to a club who have taken 2 players off us but if not Pulis best fcuk off and go fishing for another player.

Because they're already a Premiership club and moving clubs will almost certainly make him a shed load of money.

As for us not wanting to sell...Coppell has admitted he has concerns over the way Bikey plays, and has often gone for the more consistent but less spectacular Duberry and Ingimarsson so I wouldn't rule out us cashing in on Bikey if the right offer came in. Bikey has made noises about wanting to play at the highest level possible and we've seen the effect not moving on can have on some players so it wouldn't be a big shock to see him leave, at the right price of course.

£2.5m isn't nearly enough. £8m at least.

We need to try and keep Bikey, not just for this season, but assuming we go up he'll be vital next year. Duberry is fine in this league, but in the Prem we'll need the pace provided by Bikey.

My fear is come mid Jan and Bikey is still on the bench, he'll fancy a move to Stoke.

I just don't see it. I think the bookies would agree that you've got more chance of playing premiership football next season if you're at Reading rather than Stoke.

Bikey has the potential and the raw attributes yes, doesn't change the fact that Coppell has opted for the other two over him in the past though does it?

I'm not sure Bikey has proved he's capable of holding his own in the Prem either, not yet at least as he got torn apart at times last season (not on his own in that respect though!).

How about this season though?

How about the 6 months of extra earnings by going to Stoke and a nice big fat signing on bonus?

Not sure he would fancy Stoke as there is a very good chance we will be playing in the Prem next season. Not sure Stoke will be though.

This season he has a much better chance of playing in the premiership if he signs for Stoke

I just can't believe he would be that short-termist. Besides, at the kind of price that would be worth our while, it would be a bit of a gamble for Stoke. Bikey's hardly a great deal more proven in the premiership than Sonko was.
