In fact he's scored twice since 2006 in 22 appearances. looks like most have been as a sub as well.

7 from 15 in his first year, then 4 from 30 in his second.

Looks about as likely as Nwonko or whatever his shitness was called last January. Based on that record at least.

So did Doyle's last year. Sometimes all players need is for chances to go their way, or for chances to be created for them by a higher quality of players.

I wasn't talking about 1 season though. My French ain't great, but the best he seems to have done is managed 7 from 15, which is pretty good, but other than that it is a poor poor record for a striker.

Doyle had scored lots of goals in the two seasons preceding the last one. Hardly the same at all.

I agree that his record does not look good, but you cannot really judge a player unless you've seen him live. If the scouts see something in him, then I'm sure he is better than his record suggests.

Maybe he's a Heskey style player?

Doesn't score many but creates a lot of space for his strike partner, can hold the ball up to bring the midfield in (something we do need) - if so then his actual goalscoring record almsot borders on the irrelevant.

Which is why I said if Coppell and the scouts want him I'll be happy enough.

For all we know he's come back from a nasty longterm injury which is why he only made 6 appeareances in 2 seasons. He's also been on loan to Metz in the top flight which is promising.

At the moment it's paper talk and my guess is it's made up. But we'll see.

Watched a lot of French football through work.

Strikers in France don't tend to score that many goals because of the way they play.

French League 2 ain't a great standard, this guy's middle of the road at that level, same as with Kebe. He's worked out ok.

We ain't gonna sign an English based striker, if they are any good why would there clubs sell them? Worth taking a risk on someone from abroad. Different to last January where we couldn't afford to take risks...

According to his stats though this guy ain't that big: 1.83m and 77kg - that's about Doyle's stats.

Row Z Royal And when we're losing during our last home game of the season, Brum fans seek retribution by singing "Balde, what's the score?!".

Ah Baldy, still my favourite away-day character of recent years. Only the Leeds ASBO kid/Dad come close.

"My point is that Coppell has acknowledged the need for more firepower up front, so we dont have the luxury of signing a bum at such a critical stage of the season - simple!"

People said exactly the same about N Hunt and Doyle - those guys took aaaaaages to settle in didnt they...
