Shaka Wigan may be smaller club than Reading but at least they have ambition.

ALOL.
Selling their best player and replacing him with Hunt is not ambition.

Sun Tzu I suspect the permission is granted by a default as a result of the clause in the contract.....

Exactly whereas Reading let there best player leave for free and then spent a record transfer fee to replace him. Now thats ambition!!

IMAMATEOFJOVSKYbigmike LOL at anyone who thinks that Reading 107 are a reliable source
Bill Oddies - said Radio Berks - not Sir Syrups 107FM ! so are you asking generally about 107FMs reliability? or did you get the stations wrong?

I think that, out of courtesy, they might still ask. They might also have asked RFC to confirm that the clause does exist and that the trigger figure is £5M!
by RoyalBlue » 23 Jan 2009 15:16
Tony Le Mesmer Would be interesting to know what consitutes a £5m bid. Nearly all deals involve smaller down payments than the reported deal figure, with various performance related add ons to follow. Are we talking £5m with extras or a £5m deal?

I hope RFC are busy arguing that it is a straight £5M up front! (and 50% of any future sell on!!)

£5m up front and a sell-on clause.... for Hunt?
Now that really would be taking the piss.

Barry the bird boggler My understanding from the media is that the £5m release clause states £5m up front which is why Everton have problems in tabling a bid as, apparently, they can't afford that amount! Therefore they'd have to table a smaller amount and hope SH could put pressure on Reading to accept it or table some massive amount and see if we would be tempted by addons. If Wigan are talking to Mr Hunt then Spurs will have to reveal their intentions this weekend as well.

Totally agree - just take the money and run ---£5m flat for a player that cost zilch is a great, albeit inflated return - don't p*ss on the bonfire by then asking for sell-on clause!
Couldnt see it happening anyway - I think Shunt is paying at his max and there wouldnt be a market that would pay anymore for him in the future

Barry the bird boggler Wigan are a source of depression for me as I fail to see how we could not compete with them when we were in the Premiership but it seems that despite their lower attendances etc. they were able to offer a greater wage structure and generally show more intelligence in the transfer market than we did under JM and SC. OK they haven't been world beaters in the Premer League but they have survived and look to be well on the way to securing another season already.
