Seeing as Robinson's red got rescinded then I'll be very surprised if Fwank's doesn't get overturned.

If Fwank isn't available to play against Watford the entire world has gone mad. That was one of the worst decisions I've ever seen, no surprise with the worst ref ever in charge. Still, makes a chaneg for him to give one in Liverpool's favour. Why does he seem to ref every single Liverpool v Chelsea game?

Agreed it was a very harsh decision and would only be fair if the red got overturned.

BTW sorry about the Fwank thwead becoming the match thread but I've just been reminded of Bosingwa stamping on Jossy Benny noon's back and no official even noticing it  Old Mother Riley probably shouldn't be allowed to ref another game ever!

'greed. It wasn't done in anger, but still a raised foot and a red card if ever there was one!

Even Big Phil agreed lol.

What was it done in then? Was he trying to win the ball? Credit to him, when the assault made Jossy kick the ball into touch as he went down the lino gave the throw

Very much like our Bryn's equally harsh red card last season, iirc.

Anyway Fwank LOLampard.

Thing is, ball was in the air, and he had to slide to get it, so he had to have his foot in the air. How else could he have got the ball? Which he did, incidentally

It was a great tackle. The foul was by Alonso, who missed the ball, and kicked Lampard's shin. Dermot Gallagher was on 'The Last Word' and seemed almost embarassed for Riley.

If that was in anger, he's a big girl. It was more of a shove over.

With his studs, in Benyaoun's back. As Ruud Gullit said, it was 'a double red'.

According to SKY, that's the 5th time this season that Alonso has been tackled/attacked leading to an opponent being sent off.

I've said it was a red, and yes, studs up is not on no matter whether he went in hard or with a girly shove, but it was still a girly shove.

The arguement that I'm sure the ref would've used in his mind is that he was being reckless in his attempt to win the ball. He may well have been going for the ball, and even won it, but if the ref thought it was reckless and endangering his opponent by going in like that then he'll probably give him the red card.

How else could he have won the ball? I think the answer is he couldn't, but sometimes you can't win the ball and thats when you have to decide to stay on your feet and hold the play up instead of lunging in recklessly trying to make a tackle you shouldn't make.

I don't think this was the case, but I guess that's what was going through Riley's mind in the heat of the moment.

Who knows what goes through Riley's mind at any time, he's even worse than little Stewie Atwell
